Coldrice... if you are waist size 32.. it should be around 48-50.. depending on the cut!

droogist - I agree completely - I tried on some CCP in Paris upon recommendation from runner & faust and I found the same. I am 5"7 and small framed but I was drwoned when I tried on a coat - it also was quite an unflattering length on me (like a Crombie coat) which I just felt was far too manly. Frankly I looked ridiculous. I could see that the clothes were beautifully cut & made from suberb fabrics but they did result in a VERY butch look. Maybe it would work with (in contrast) very feminine clothes but that almost defeats the purpose really (maybe it would work on a tall shapely figure). what do you think of Haute? Interested to know.
...and I'm only 5'5"...you can imagine how I must have looked. :yuk:

The only time I've seen Haute up close was at the Rue Hérold branch of L'Eclaireur...I suppose if I'd seen it anywhere else I might have been impressed, but in that space, surrounded by all those similar-looking labels, I ended up flicking right past it...it just looked so typical. Maybe that's unfair, because I do like the aesthetic, but in any case I didn't bother trying any of it on.

droogist - thats the only place i have seen it too. Thats where I tried on the CCP coat as well. Its mental in there.... what do you think of it? Personally I find it sort of amusing but not very appealing. I prefer the womens L'eclaireur in the Marais but I still find it far too 'dark' for my liking.

^ helena, I agree...personally I don't have much of a problem with dimly-lit, uninviting-looking shop spaces (i used to work in one), but the rue Hérold shop is just way OTT. I consider it more a gallery than a proper store...definitely got that look-don't-touch feeling in there. (And those prices didn't help either. I had to keep shoving my eyeballs back into their sockets every time I flipped over a tag.)

indeed droogist. I recall being at my most flabberghasted when i saw the Project Alabama.

Oh...Project AL is grotesquely overpriced,Helena.

WAY too overpriced. It's only the fact that they're made in the US that makes them expensive, because so many Asian brands have re-translated that look (rather effectively, I might add, though i still won't buy it as it's not my look) for less than $30 a shirt. It's not like CCp where, beyond the idea, the craftsmanship is also novel and good.

See,I love the handmade look but there's really no justification for a $1000 t'shirt with a bit of stitching on it. There's really no substance behind it. It's silly...almost laughable because they obviously must take the majority for fools. It's pretentious dross is all. As you say,you see it from alot of American labels....IOC being the ringleader of the whole phenom.

The really funny thing about it,is that they're based not too far from where I live at the present. That must count for at least some of the idiocy,I think. No...only joking!

My waist is around 33. For reference I'm a size 32 in this season's (spring 05) dior vintage jeans and a size 48 in this seasons dior chinos if you're familiar with either -- they're low waisted and measure around 34 at the waist band. In last seasons vintage low waist contour fit Helmut Lang jeans I'm a size 32 -- the actual waist of those is around 33. All the above fit me perfectly, as does poell size 50 from last year and the year before. I think if you're between 31 and 32, the poell 48 is for you; 33-34 and you'll take a poell 50, though they might be a bit snug if you're right at a 34 waist.

Ooooh, the last one is genius!! You are not copyrighting this, are you? Can I use?

It really used to not be crap,to be honest. The prices were utterly stupid...and they were idiots for having everybody believe they were some sort of revolutionary "designers". But the re-worked vintage thing they did wasn't such a bad thing...in fact if you were to take the two of them with their attitudes out of the equation...the clothes were actually quite beautiful. Just that pretension that went along with it.

I am sorry if this was posted before.

This is a link to Boiler Gallery where 6 pics are shown.

His double or multi-modal aesthetic approach tends to involve more than one sense in the process of his work. The aesthetic value of his fashion collections and the method in which he stages his presentations involve connecting a person’s visual, tactile, olfactory, and auditory systems.

Does anyone know if CCP launched another line sometime ago, maybe around the late 90's? I seem to recall being told, or read somewhere that he did. The line was called 'Inch', but not too sure.
Thanks for any info in advance.

He's been designing since 1996...but very quietly till around 99-2000 when he began getting noticed more.

Oh also jadovski--I vaguely remember reading something about that. But I can't be certain

Hey cerfas, thanks a lot for your reply, and thoughts. I baught a couple of 'Inch' tops about 8 or so years ago, and seem to recall that I was told that they were not really a diffusion line, but more of a casual line of CCP. I may be wrong though, can't remember what I did yesterday! :). Thought I would ask. Diffusion line or not, they are very nice tops, more casual than CCP, but also not of the same quality, materials and cut.
