Cate Blanchett

She doesn't look bad because let's face it it's very hard to make Cate Blanchett look bad. Also, the hair & makeup is lovely.
But the shape of that dress is so terribly unflattering. She doesn't let the dress wear her but it's still too overwhelming and the print isn't amazing either.

I'm disappointed after the great photocall look.

i can see what people mean about the gown overwhelming, but i think she makes it work like only, perhaps, she could.

i also quite like giles' collections in all their gothic romance and victorianism so perhaps it's the combination of giles and cate that wins me over.

i see it like this: blonde hair with dark romanticism = cate; black hair with light romanticism = rooney. so it's even the 2 of them taken together that makes me like this look on cate even more.

still, i do understand the critiques but nevertheless, i love it myself.

I prefer this to what she wore to the Carol premiere. Stunning.

Gorgeous! And this sounds creepy, but I love every line on her face. She's just stunning.

This dress is my favorite look of hers at Cannes, such perfection.

I love this dress, it’s totally gorgeous on her

:woot: what a show-stopper!!

i don't think it's creepy that anyone would love the lines in her face; thank goodness some actresses avoid the "frozen" look! viva la lines!

The lines on her face are exactly why she, as well as Naomi Watts, Julianne Moore, Juliette Binoche, Isabelle Huppert and Meryl Streep, are at the top of their game right now. Now if only most actresses realise that they shouldn't succumb to such pressure. It can be frustrating and sad to watch at times.
