Before anybody says....it certainly would qualify more as p-a-p but i adore the strength and cohesion she's managed to express. incredibly poetic. definitely her best thus far. a bit of a combination of wijnants' aesthetics and haider ackermann.

It annoys me to no end when people say that this doens't look like couture, etc. I think people so conflate couture with what Galliano does at Dior that they forget what it's really about. This is by no means my favorite of scaled down couture, but it's so hard to really get a feel for these clothes and the details and work that go into them without seeing them at close. When New Look and the couture of the 40s/50s/60s came out, it was all in the detailing. So anyway that one white coat looks amazing

I agree meg. personally, couture is about technique and artisanship. whether one agrees or not. just remember too, there was no such thing historically as p-a-p for a long time till the 50's....so i wonder what one would call all of those quieter designers of that period?

I enjoyed everything, aside from the very puffy black coat in the first post, and the second post's white coat. Eh... just oversize and looking a little star trek. Otherwise, it was very flattering and pretty. :)

Oh, so true guys. Couture is often confused with the theatrics of Dior, I think many forget the wearability of many of the designs when scaled down. When the make-up is taken away, and many of the pieces are taken for actual sale, it's scaled down enormously and sometimes is quite distinguishable from what it was. Couture is in essence all of the things ready-to-wear doesn't accomplish, I enjoy freshness and this was definitely a healthy reminder. :)

On the same hand though, I think a few looks from ready-to-wear have become more haute couture. For example, John Galliano's F/W of 2007 looked very couture to me, and it becomes a little tougher to say the exact definition of either (also, a collection style.com said was very "light and airy" if anyone can help me remember the designer's name).

I am rather ambivalent towards it, tbh and I happen to be one of those individuals who champions modern-day, fuss free, artistically crafted couture.... :ermm:

Last season's show was quite epic. This feels rather half-hearted, imo. I do enjoy the knit pieces (???), however. Something charmingly geriatric about them...

I've always been a fan of her prints. So, WHERE ARE THEY???

^well there are some of her patterns in some of knitwear. it's definitely quieter but perhaps she needed to break it up a bit and show some pieces that were more mono?

Hmmm. I love the clothes, especially the velvet dress in #1, but the models don't do justice to Pill's designs. These models make each piece look a bit dowdy, and I bet that the clothes are dreamy. What a shame.

I'm a bit underwhelmed with her prints this season, I was in love with her last...Nevertheless, it's still good, esp the softly gathering garments, effortless. Thanks for posting

The white coat brings back Balenciaga but translated for the 21st century. I envy the women who will be wearing that.
