klow-chloe' I totally feel your pain about the Chanel store.

I got my cerf in from Chanel Sydney and it's actually cheaper for me this way due to the tourist tax rebate.
When I went to the store to collect my bag, the SA that I had emailed had left for the day.
The SA I spoke to was completely clueless about the cerf, thinking that I was asking for a "surf" tote. I even spelt out the name for her and she was still so clueless!! Neither did she look like she cared or wanted to help me either!!

Luckily a better SA took over and I finally got my cerf. If not, I was really very close to walking out!

Hey chaingsi when I read your post that you've got the cerf from Sydney I was wondering how??? coz they don't know anything about the name or the leather of the bag coz when I was enquiring about it I told them that chanel in US has this bag and I got one SA told me on the phone that I may have to get the bag from US they don't have it here. But when i went to the boutique they did have 3 colours in stock.

And I saw a lady carrying the black one the same day you posted that you got it from Sydney...hey could be you that I saw hee...hee.....

I kinda like the brown a lot coz I'm a browney person But I can't get the brown one here

I simply emailed Chanel Sydney with the email that I got from the website and I guess I was lucky that at least someone knew what I was talking/writing about. B)

I kinda went wild in Sydney because sales just started and my hotel was near David Jones!!

Awww....why don't you check with Chanel Sydney and see if they plan to stock the brown in the near future?

FYI- for anyone considering buying a Cerf bag, Chanel may be raising the price. This season, it's been $1650.00 (which is what I paid), but when I got mine shipped to me from the Honolulu store (the Beverly Hills store was out of them), the price tag attached to it read $1725.00. Usually, Chanel is pretty consistent with its pricing, so the higher price on the price tag may indicate a price increase.

Marybear - I LOVE that YSL bag in your last pic. What are your thoughts on it? Does it hurt your shoulder to carry (cause of the rings)? How much did it cost?

P.S. I kinda like the Cerf bag in pink. I didn't think I would.

so today I saw another bag alongside the cerf that appears to be made of caviar calfskin, not deerskin, and has a rectangular non-CC gunmetal closure and no shoulder strap. it comes in the same size as the cerf and a smaller size which is more squat.

honestly circoit, ive only carried that ysl bag twice. ive only had it for a couple of weeks. it hasnt hurt or bothered me so far and i love the leather, its so soft! i could post some pics of it if you want/need.

i think the black cerf looks very classic. what does the white look like - is it a cream or an egg-shell kind of colour ?

I find myself didn't like the white one don't like the gold cc closure on white. But anyway you should go and have a look in real life you may like it though.

Leshent currently has a Pink (cerf) tote in calf leather, not deerskin up on ebay.

To clarify the issue of whether the "Cerf" is in deerskin and/or calf leather.... From my understanding via this forum and my Chanel SA, there appears to be different materials for different regions i.e. in U.S. the Cerf totes are deerskin while in Asia, the Cerf totes are in calf leather. To further illustrate my hypothesis, I've attached pictures of a Black Cerf tote I got from this thread (belonging to the mother of a regular TFS member who has a black Mulberry Roxanne..sorry, I cannot recall the TFS identity ) AND the Pink tote from Leshent.

The style of both bags look identical. The difference is in the material. The Black one, in deer skin presumably, is shinier and more reflective while the Pink one is more matte, as with non-patent calf leather.
