Chanel S/S 2018 : Grace Elizabeth & Luna Bijl by Karl Lagerfeld

Remember when Chanel campaigns used to be exciting and interesting....

Luna! What an amazing model, and Grace looks beautiful as well.

That said, this campaign is just sad. Again a studio setting and an empty page for the Chanel logo? Karl couldn't be less creative than this. Why not go out of the studio? S/S 2011 was a fantastic campaign. Or maybe Karl is not able to go out anymore...?

He can travel around the world for the precollections or to receive a prize in NYC while at the same time still taking pics of architecture.

Even if he wasn't able to go out anymore, he has shot a lot of campaigns in houses and quite a few in his houses. For me it's just pure laziness as it is more convenient. He absolutely shoot everything in his parisian studio nowadays: Chanel, Fendi, his own brand and even the few eds he can do for magazines.

I don't mind studio shots, look at Meisel. When was the last time we saw outdoors from him?

That must have been when Alex White was styling the campaigns. Late 00’s Chanel campaigns were amazing largely due to her. Ever since Carine started styling Chanel in 2011, it’s been a downward spiral.

Even the lookbook for the Paris-Hamburg collection is much more inspiring than this...

They should give the job to Lucinda permanently. That whole Edward drama was a huge eye-opener for her. She's since realised her precarious position and gone above and beyond in terms of styling.

I must say, Carine's (and incidentally Chanel's in recent years) best campaign yet is the one with Saskia and Joan. And Lola is right, Karl can go outside just like Meisel can. They're just getting cushy. Karl did it for Cuba, and Meisel shot some girls for Coach nearby a river in NY. They can if they want to.

I loved the collection, and I like the simplicity and styling of the campaign, even if it feels a little heavy, but it looks a little bit like leftovers from cruise 2013 and I'm having a hard time getting past that...

Karl's Paris' shoots are a joke. Everybody has to be on standby, sometimes for hours. He literally walks in just to push the shutter button. Its pure fashion parody.
Yay for Luna tho, girl is a star.

yes !! real models not people with rich parents !! luna especially  absolute stunner

This kind of campaign would have been much stronger with the likes of Raquel and Soo Joo Park or Binx. Grace and Luna bring nothing to it.

^ Lol.

The BTS pictures are more interesting than the actual campaign. That says a lot.

they're actually the only reason why this campaign isn't a complete disaster for me.

Exactly my thoughts ^_^ That picture of Grace with the yellow background looking over her shoulder is my favourite.

I'm disappointed by far Chanel show was one of the best this season but to see a campaign which remind me of catalog is such a let down. I love both models though!

This feels like a catalogue or a lookbook shoot to me.

You're absolutely right, it does. Although I'd rather have something colourful like this, as opposed to last season's campaign with Cara Delevingne and Lily-Rose Depp.

Both Grace and Luna are wonderful additions to the modeling industry and prove every inch their worth here for Chanel. They make a terrific duo and I must admit that the campaign looks a hundred times better in print, the way it's laid out with the Chanel logo, as opposed to just seeing the plain images here.

I was going to say this is a glorified catalogue but not even that. OMG, lazy as ****.

Brands are not even trying anymore... At least with campaigns. They are expending all the money in gifts and parties for Instagramers. EWWWW.
