charity bands - livestrong poverty etc.

I'm totally with As You Like it on this. I have no problem with people beleiving in a cuase but I don't know about broadcasting it for (at least with some people) status. However, I know a guy who survived cancer and wears a Livestrong bracelet. THAT makes sense.

please just give and not advertise. remember those who shout loudest give least..

buy the real bands / give money straight to the charity.
don't buy those fakes frm ebay just to have evry colour !

I'm in a student campaign that works with make poverty history, and we wear the wristbands because it helps get the word out to people what we're doing...not because it is trendy. I think it is just downright sleazy to buy fakes - the point is to give money to help people, and to spread the word...and as for people who are buying the official ones just because they're trendy, it's silly, but as long as the money is going to charity, I don't think hungry people in third world countries are complaining about it.

I cannot stand this jumping on the fashionable charity bandwaggon. Here's the latest offering of bracelets:

When I see people selling the fakes I want to go over to them and punch their lights out ((so out of charactor for me but I really do:angry: )

I think charity wristbands are fantastic! Anything that gets people to give money to causes they otherwise wouldn't know about is great. Also, I think they plant the seed for future donation and involvement. Personally, I wear the purple Lupus wristband.

BTW: If there is a hell, there's a special place in it for people who sell fake charity bands.

Fake charity braclets? WTH.That's just low.

i finally succumbed to buring a charity wristband- a blue on for scope.

At my school, every student seems to have a million of them! Its not just about supporting charities anymore, its just a fashion statement saying "I've got more wristbands than you!". I have only the ones from charities I support, not just random ones that are pretty colours...
