Cheryl Cole

Learn how to talk proper, areet? Simon Cowell advises Cheryl Cole to take elocution lessons ahead of U.S. move

She's hoping to take the US by storm – but there’s a final bit of polishing to be done before glamorous Newcastle-born WAG Cheryl Cole can be unleashed on the Americans.

X Factor judge Simon Cowell, who is keen to land a TV presenting job for the 25-year-old Girls Aloud star and wife of footballer Ashley Cole, has advised her to have elocution lessons amid concerns that Americans might struggle to understand what she’s saying.

‘Simon is a realist and he knows one or two things need to change,’ says a well-placed source.

‘He sees her strong Geordie accent as the key problem. It makes him laugh but he knows American audiences simply won’t understand a word she says.’

Cowell has already recommended a voice coach in Los Angeles to help take the edge off her accent, says the source. It seems Professor Cowell is the Henry Higgins to Cheryl’s Eliza Doolittle.

Meanwhile, Cheryl and Ashley have apparently vowed to put their baby plans on hold until she knows their marriage is rock solid.

A friend claimed: 'She has had to reconsider the whole baby plan now. She feels the time is just not right.

'It is really hard for her because she wants a family more than anything in the world, but she is a clever girl and won’t bring a baby into this world until both her and Ash are ready. He has a lot of proving to do before then.'

The couple almost split last year over allegations that he had cheated on Cheryl with hairdresser Aimee Walton.

In an interview with British Vogue magazine this year, Cheryl recalled the tabloid reports about his alleged infidelity 'horrendous'.

She said: 'But look, Ashley's young and he's got a young mentality - for his age anyway.

'He's learning. He has a beautiful soul, he's a really nice guy and I'm not stupid, you know. I'm really not.

'I know what I'm doing. I've had enough knocks in the past to know what the circumstances are, and I'm happy. If other people aren't, then that's their problem.'

The couple married in a lavish ceremony in July 2006 after dating for two years.

I can see Simon's view on the whole situation, it's hit and miss on her cracking America, and she's going to need all the help she can get so elocution lessons couldn't hurt.

America's such a hard country and industry to break into.

I don´t think she´s planning to break into US but who knows..

It's just a few things I've read about Simon Cowell wanting her to break america which makes me think it. Plus I think if she could break America, I think she'd be huge.
Who knows :)

OK, I thought it was just a rumour, so that's fine. The DM article makes it sound like fact.... as usual.

She really does look fantastic, I hope she walks for fashion relief again this year.

hahahahhahahahahahah
read this on perez then googled her

The fact that Cheryl, Katy Perry (??!!) and Agyness even exist on this list convinces me that the voters were blind. Okay, Cheryl not so much since she has a decent stylist, but #1? Really?

Girls Aloud Eylure Signing (08/04/09)

Girls Aloud launch their own range of fake eyelashes... but those promo photos don't look real either

Cheryl Cole is rarely seen without her fake eyelashes and tons of waterproof mascara.

So when Girls Aloud decided to follow the celebrity path of launching their own beauty products, it was a natural choice to opt for their own fake eyelash range.

The famous five teamed up to launch the new limited-edition Eylure Girls Aloud fake eyelash range at the Superdrug store in London's Westfield shopping centre.

While X Factor judge Cheryl, 25, kept covered up in a pink vest and skinny jeans, her four bandmates Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle
appeared to be battling to see who could wear the shortest skirt.

Sarah, 27, was the most dressed up of the group in her bejewelled caramel mini shift dress, while Nadine, 23, showed off her long legs in a tiny lilac floral skirt and white vest.

Kimberley, 27, went for this season's must-have, a tulip skirt in light pink, while Nicola, 23, complimented her alabaster complexion with a pistachio t-shirt and lilac skirt.

During the launch, the five stars met young fans and signed their lash packaging, which features dramatic - and the teensiest bit airbrushed - photos of the group.

Kimberley, who recently climbed Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjiro with Cheryl to raise money for Comic Relief, gave fans tips of how to apply the lashes.

Sarah showed off her tattoo on her left arm, admitting it was Tibetan, but said the meaning of it was 'a secret'.

The collection includes five styles of eyelashes inspired by each Girls Aloud bandmembers, with Cheryl's Hollywood style lashes with the longest and densest and Sarah opting for a dramatic, shorter look.

Nicola's lashes are more natural and feminine, Kimberley's are long and light and Nadine's are for everyday use.

Kimberley enthused: 'It’s every girls dream to have your own (bespoke) false eyelashes. You know that they are always going to fit perfectly and look just right.'

Beauty queen: Cheryl's lashes give fans the chance to batt their eyelids like she does on The X Factor

The group was approached to launch their own range after they were credited with boosting the sales of faux lashes nationwide.

Tesco health and beauty director Mark Tylesley said Cheryl's teary appearances on The X Factor last year drew attention to her falsies and use of waterproof mascara.

He said: 'Cheryl Cole is doing for false eyelashes now what Dusty Springfield did for them in the Sixties. She's a modern icon so it's not surprising so many young women are influenced by her style.'

On their Tangled Up tour last year, The Promise singers got through an amazing 145 sets of eyelashes.

Their make-up artist Liz Martins said: 'I have been using Eyelure lashes on the girls for years.

'We often customise the styles ourselves to suit each of the girls, so when the opportunity came up to create something especially for Girls Aloud, the girls were full of ideas about exactly how they wanted them to look.'

The group has worn Eylures lashes for years and Cheryl particulary liked the Naturalites range, before she got her own design.

She said two years ago: 'I'm a big fan of Eylure Naturalites false lashes, which give my eyes a glam look.'

Eyelure, created by make-up artists David and Eric Aylott, have been going for over 60 years and its lashes have graced the eyes of some of the biggest stars, including Nicole Kidman, Kylie Minogue and Victoria Beckham.

When the products first launched in the Forties, they were placed on the eyes of silver screen legends including Marlene Dietrich, Joan Collins, Joan Fontaine, Ingrid Bergman, Deborah Kerr, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor.

• The Girls Aloud collection sells for £5 a pair and are available from Superdrug stores nationwide and ASOS.com from April 20.

She looks great at the eylure signing, I love all their outfits, even Cheryl's, she looks gorgeous in it.

Fake eyelashes scare me ever since I ripped off a few real ones using them for Halloween but Cheryl's are my favorite style. She looks great in her pic too
