Chloe F/W 07.08 Paris

^^^ where can one see the Resort collection? I'm very interested to see what you guys mean! :)

great post!
i might be in the grave minority, but to me nothing will ever top their F/W 06/07 collection by the Yvan and team! Some of the detailing was so impeccable and brilliant yet subtle!!! Lovely colors.... and that hide 3/4 sleeve high wasted jacket that set the trend for the next couple years!!!!
What do you think of the collection?

yeah that collection was a continuation of philos summer look but with some new looks from the team , but i think its affects as a collection are still being churned out today. The current H&M campaign has clothing which looks like blatant copies of that collection , with the berets , huge long chunky sweaters, shifts , palazzo pants .

^^^ Thanks for that post, it was great :flower:

I understand what you guys mean when you compare Chloe (Stella and Phoebe-era's) to the current Chloe.

I think they hired a man because they wanted to edge Chloe up and have it interpreted through a different set of eyes :)

Whether its working or not is a different issue...

I think you're probably right and I definitely agree with you that Chloe was getting stale.

No problem, BTW! :flower:

The thing I don't understand is to do with Resort. I would very much like to compare the resort collections of Chloe under Phoebe against Paulo.

ps. what was everyones favorite Chloe show? Mine was Spring 2005 - the bohemian scarves were just BEYOND!

her resorts collections were very similar to her main collections for that season. well i have 3 favs , fall 03 , spring 04 and spring 05 , those aqua blue dresses with the diamante neckline did it for me

I, personally, think that there were a couple of outstanding pieces in that collection:

But, on the whole, I can't, honestly, say that most of it was really for me - a bit too shapeless and/or muted for my liking.

However, I didn't mind that too much, as (much as I'd like them to!), I don't always expect Chloe collections to cater to my personal style.

I think that's my point, even as Chloe fans, we all have different tastes, so we can't, reasonably, expect a single design house to cater to them all, every season; but what we should be able to expect, is for them to, at least loosely, follow the overall design aesthetic of the house.

Thanks for understanding my point ...chloehandbags....and the A/W show was the best (it had this romantic 70s yet gritty london of today meshed in together, the tiger print jeans and red blouse ...:heart::heart::blush: the good ol days...

...chloe has been saccharine for the past few seasons post A/W 03 but it shouldnt return to stark and minimalistic. That A/W show was dark but glamourous and there was details and emotion in the clothes. Chloe clothes add this cool and chic to your everyday life , what Melim has put out based on 3 collections he has done so far (fall , resort and the accessories) , its very stark . Giving the chloe girl a dark edge is fine but turning her into this boring and starki girl , which basically strips the essence of what a chloe girl is...

ITA. :D

thanks^ fixed now

Chloe started catching my eye in spring 2006... so clean and simple and interesting fabrics
and I started seeing some older work of theirs too that had interesting details (I think 2005). One especially on Kirsten Dunst for Teen Vogue, blue with white circular design at the collar

My favourite Chloe collection is probably....SS06 or FW06.
SS06 was really the collection trhat catched my eye, the casting was very good and in my opinion, a good show = a good casting.
Yeah, the fabrics were very interesting, because I remember Philo was saying how she used couture fabrics, the detailing was amazing.
It was very soft and sensual, pure and light. I loved the sheer dress with the detailing on Sasha:

and all the babydoll dresses, which are heavily copied in the stores now.
The mix of the sheer fabrics with satin, cotton, silk and organza, chiffon! etc was just amazing. The way the dresses moved so airily .

However, FW06 was a perfect continuation of this collection.
It was boyish, grunge and soft at the same time. The layering was very interesting as was the detailing. I could go on for hours .... :innocent:

i liked the 60s/70s look of chloe's past ( when it wasnt too boho or voluminous )... but i think it's time for a change for them, i wouldnt wear these new looks but i like them and it's really fresh, plus it is a very cohesive collection, i say good luck to the new designer
