Christian Dior S/S 2011 : Karlie Kloss by Steven Meisel

To some extent, I understand Karlie's prowess as a good poser/walker. And incidentally, I also quite like this campaign. Still, I can't help but think how this would've been even better with a different model - a Magdalena or a Maryna or a Natasha or even a Daphne. One of the reasons why Karlie's never quite grown on me is because her height and aforesaid posing/walking prowess notwithstanding, I don't find her special in any way. Her face is too plain, and try as hard as she might, she does just doesn't pull off sexy without looking like she's trying too hard.

MCB does Givenchy since ages... Karlie does the same for Dior. I don't see any problem with it grace a Meisel.
The concept of the campaign is just a 10/10 though the collection itself was quite weak. Maybe i wouldn't mind a nice port in the background, but i'm satisfied with this ad.

But Givenchy is always a multistar campaign. I'm sure if MCB was the only girl doing it, then that'd have got tedious. Seeing Karlie alone becomes monotonous.

They should have fixed her hair on the second shot. All I can see is that little curl poking at the top. I like the concept. I just don't think Karlie pulled it off.

From Possibly the worst show ive seen in a while, The campaign Lifts it SO well. I really quite like them.

this toned color reminds me of the 50s...

kinda cheep.. I dont like..
but the collection was tacky, so..

bacall first now hayworth, yet karlie is delivering the exact same face 3 seasons running. i hope they never get to ava gardner.lol
sad thing here is how awful the collection looks.:ninja:

Karlie look very diferent no look Karlie the ads is to much cheap to Dior need back Nick Knight this is too much simple awful

Im quite sick of her face for Dior,
but unless Meisel stops shooting the campaign
or he gets over Karlie then she will now be the equivalent
to Sasha in Prada. I didnt mind Sasha though.
Ive also been dying to see Maryna styled with this make-up and hair
she looks stunning in a red lip and old Hollywood styling

meisel and karlie should leave dior, seriously. even though I don't think knight's aesthetic would be the best for this galliano's new look () at dior, he would do much better than what they've presented to us. not to mention the airbrushing...

While he may like her and all, Meisel is not the one steering the ship when it comes to Karlie for Dior, Karlie is John Galliano's boo, after all Meisel is not the one who had Karlie open every Dior and Galliano show in recent seasons.

Having said all that, I wish that they went MG this season, that was my wish for SS2010 as well; it's not even that I am tired of Karlie, I just think that it would be great if they captured different looks and personae from the era. I do agree with the comment that if Karlie is going to be to Dior what MCB is to Givenchy, that is yet another reason to go MG. They are owned by the same company (right?), and unless Meisel costs way more than Mert and Marcus or Karlie costs way more than MCB, then it should be doable.

Even though I'm not really crazy about Karlie,i like this ad a lot, concept is really great, only thing that's bothering me is the hair in second shot...

I think it doesn´t look as sophisticated and as aspirational as I think it should, the images arent bad, Karlie looks good, but the whole idea of advertising is promoting an image and I associate Dior with more glamorous, dramatic concepts.

They are too basic for my idea of Dior.

I really like that second image, though both of them look like a saturated Gucci ad.

Um, these are diabolical. I actually don't know the word for how bad these are. It looks like an Abercrombie & Fitch shot. They're extremely silly.

The styling is terrible. I think Karlie's face is actually quite serene, but the hair and the clothes make her look like she's dressing up as someone's mother. Perhaps that's what appeals to the dior customer, though?
