Christian Dior S/S 2020 Paris

Doesn't really matter, she's in charge of all of it she's MAKING MONEY with it. I'm not trying to defend her clothes, this collection stinks, but it doesn't matter what you and I think. Women are buying it. A lot of it. Enough to up sales nearly 40% since she came on board. That's HUGE. Bernard Arnault must LOVE HER. Because you know what it likes more than good reviews? MONEY.

I know many of you don't want to believe it's doing well, but the numbers are really, really clear and that open interpretation.

*Not that open

The article specifically says that Christian Dior Couture is doing 3.2 Billion euros SEPARATELY from Christian Dior Parfum and has surpassed it.
Yes I got confused because Dior became fully a part of LVMH two years ago...

Never mind.
Yes her Dior is selling. There’s nothing to argue about that. Our taste or our opinion on her work won’t change that fact.
The challenge for LVMH now is a bit similar to what Kering is facing. At Dior, she has a 3 years contract so she will likely renew it (even if some members of TFS were sure that she will leave). But can this formula work endlessly?

Someone told me that she is extremely quick. She is a very pragmatic and efficient designer. Even at the Ateliers... As most of her dresses are constructed in the same way, they can produce more and it’s a bit like well oiled machine.

I will always want for Alber to join Dior but the house has a stability that they never really had in a decade...

No wonder she is extremely quick...she doesn´t design anything at all!

There's a documentary where they follow along the creation of her first Dior Haute Couture collection. It focuses more on the peite mains in the altelier but you do get to see her in action. She's very no nonsense, there's no artistic turmoil. She knows what she wants, she asks for it, she gets it, she's happy and things move along smoothly. It sort of makes sense given her background in accessories.

Can this formula work endlessly? Can any? At some point she'll have to not only surprise her existing customer, she'll need to court some new ones. She's a smart woman with a lot of experience. I imagine she has a few tricks up her sleeve. But I look at this collection and I can't help but think that if women haven't bought this stuff from her by now they aren't going to. Even they might start feeling some fatigue with this one. But then again, look at how long Valentino went on before Pierpaolo switched things up a bit. Her consistency is what is driving sales.

I find it hard to believe the numbers in the BOF article re: RTW. I work in luxury & very genuinely don't believe I've ever seen clients/influencers/customers fawn over the clothes. I'd believes accessories & beauty. The RTW, no (outside red carpet or couture - even that is down to the basicness of the designs). Like, who the F*** is buying this?

Super rich, conservative cis women.

It made me even more furious reading Bernard's interview about Greta Thunberg and read about this collection and how it's inspired. Like you can't just try to capitalize the sustainability movement and then talk trash on the key member of the movement. But whatever, as much as the entire set is 100% recyclable, I hope she won't recycle her idea again. But who am I kidding.

This woman should be fired ASAP. what an ugly collection!! Dior is such a joke nowadays.
