Did the searchthing and I can't believe that there isn't a thread about them yet:shock:

I love them, I saw them in consert yesterday in Stockholm and it was great. Definately the best consert I've ever seen, they're amazing live.

Anyone else who likes their music?:D

Though I don't mind Coldplay, I have yet to really, truly get into them. I own none of their albums, but do not change the radio station when they come on, either.

I think that if you get the chance to see them live you should take it because all the songs that I didn't care as much for before I love now

=D

^ I've heard they're amazing live, but I usually don't go to concerts now of bands that I just like so/so... I get bored... :innocent:

They're coming here I believe in... May? 2006. I'm not entirely sure I'm going to try and get tickets. I always said that I would if they came here for a show, but, that was before they released X & Y, which I am really not fond of. In fact I consider that album the biggest disappointment of this year...

I loved their first two albums, esp the first, but I just can't get into their new stuff. I feel like they aren't growing, just recycling.
I do think they are sooo much better than 99% of the crap that is on the radio now a days.(please forgive me for sounding like my grandfather)

Yeah I agree with you X & Y isn't really my favorite and the good thing about the consert was that they didn't play all the songs from their new album, just a couple.. They played all their best old songs like: the scientist, Clocks, In my place, trouble, god put a smile ...
The only things bad was that it was a rather short concert

I'm sorry, but I think they majorly suck. They are like the posterboy for rock gone pop - inane lyrics, bland music. The whole thing just reeks of banality.

Rush Of Blood To The Head is their best album.

I lost my copy of X&Y before I even got to listen to it

(am also suprised there wasn't a topic on them already)

I like Speed of Sound and White Shadows so far. On our store CD we have lots of Coldplay music, it got addictive.

Major Coldplay fan here
I think they are fabulous ..
I`m so so upset i wont get to see them live =(
ah :(:(

oh that's so sad Natalie.. but if they release this consert on dvd I think you should get it
.. I think it would be great even if you weren't there

Chris Martin is so good on stage, when they were playing in my place and the whole crowd was singing along he actually walked off stage and went through the crowd all the way to the back and sang for the people having seats there
it was amazing

^He does that at every concert. In fact, pretty much everything he does and says is the exact same everywhere they play.

They were my favorite band, okay they still are on my top 3, for the longest time, but once they got huge and Chris married Gwyneth he became an egotistical wanker and sort of ruined their appeal. I've seen them live about 5 times now and they are certainly incredible (Front row center during their Rush of Blood to the Head Tour!) Definately the second best concert I've ever been to (Sigur Ros is #1 of course); Politik is incredible.

As for their albums, the first two were by far the best but they seem to kind of worsen with each album. Amazingly, some of their greatest songs have not even been released, some not even recorded which is truly shocking when you hear some of the songs that made it on X&Y.

Nevertheless they will always be one of my favorites bands, always!

Agreed.

They aren't one of my favourites, but i don't hate them. My favourite songs are Don't Panic and In My Place. I remember when i was really angry at my mother for not letting me go to a music festival In my Place came on and it filled me with hope and the message that i needed at the time, so i will always love that song the best. Don't Panic also has that affect on me and its a beautiful song. I'm seeing them in june next year  yay. I want to get married to Yellow. So far i don't really like X & Y but Talk and White Shadows are good. Speed of Sound annoys the hell of out me

My opinion....I'm sick of coldplay already...their third album is way adult contemporary.....their not following their old rule but a new one....I understand a band like Coldplay is expected something new, something fresh because of their three year hiatus but it's not new or fresh....on this third album I was expecting something else but it came to be just another adult contemporary album and it's a disappointment.....and on this third album it's got Chris Martin written all over it and not COLDPLAY the band.... They should have put Chris Martin's face on the cover.....:innocent:

Coldplay is ok, but the songs on X&Y all sound the same (Kingdom Come is my favorite). I like their old songs better- the Scientist & Yellow are my favorite.
