Hon. mention:
YSL Mens S/S & F/W 2000 - I've only recently fallen in love with them, but all I can say is that it's a shame that Hedi's work for Dior overshadowed his early efforts.
5) Balenciaga F/W 2008 - The first show in a long while that really made me sit up and take notice. For me, it was a welcome return to so many of the things that I had been missing in fashion; glamour, severity, sex, power...it had it all.
4) Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture F/W 2002 - Without a doubt my favorite Gaultier collection ever. For whatever reason it's become the standard which I measure all of his other collections by.
3) Alexander McQueen S/S 2001, 2003 and 2004 - I definitely can't pick just one, since each one of them is more amazing than the next. To this day the clothes, concepts and presentations still manage to be exciting.
2) Gucci F/W 2003 - I can't really add more to what's already been said about this one. F/W 04 may have been his grand finale, but F/W 03 was definitely Tom's most epic and perfectly realized collection.
1) Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2000 - For me, the show of the decade. It was one of the very first collections shown in the new decade, one of the first collections I can remember reading about and seeing video of, and yet 10 years later I haven't grown tired of it. It's still just as relevant, interesting and provocative as it was then. All of John's work for Dior in the 2000s stands out in my mind, but this was the one that really started it all. Maybe not so surprisingly it pre-dated the whole hobo/dumpster chic trend that came to define the latter part of the 2000s.
