Comme des Garçons Parfum "Sweet" Series 7

I would like to report, I'm a huge fan of all things Comme, and have almost all their perfumes. I was recently in London and went to buy some of the sweet series, and as much as I wanted to, I just couldn't- they smell too much like cheap copies, which I love the idea of so much, but the actual smell burnt my nose. They really do smell like the most common cheap fragrances around.

I think its an amazing idea after all the exotic and unique scents they've been doing and have become known for, and often they are challenging and take a while to get used to, but these were very difficult to wear-especially as a male. The bottles, by the way, were breaking in store-around the top, and the print was rubbing off already, which all added to the cheap feeling. I loved the packaging in general.

So needless to say, great dissappointment on my part.

I would absolutely agree with this, except I actually don't even like the concept. I noticed the print rubbing off and just thought it looked rubbish. The smells are all very similar and not very nice. The Tea one is the best. Compared to, for example, the incence series, it's may below par I'm afraid.

It's dissapointing that you guys don't like the Sweets:-) I like StickyCake, WoodCoffee and I am moving to BurntSugar. They don't have that richness of other gourmand perfumes, like SLs. But the smell is not common imo. The sweetness comes mostly from milk and sugar, mixed with either spicy woods (BurntSugar) or "pudding":-) (StickyCake), or even pepper and fruits (Cocoa) is simple, comforting. I think this is def. the "new" sweet. Not opulent and serious (think of Guerlain's Apres l'Ondee, or SL Rahat Loukhoum), but simple and enjoyable:-P

WoodCoffee reminds me of Arabie SL. But it has the comforting, almost calming sth. I think I can smell sth from Kyoto in it, too. Dark, but soft, bitter but sweet. BurntSugar is like ginger and cardamon, but with milk, like nothing else:-)

The bottles look silly indeed:-)

Always interested to hear your views Nqth. You know what you;re talking about in relation to scents. Maybe they repay a little more attention, but they just didn't have that instant appeal that some of the other "series" parfums had. And the bottles are bad, which also puts one off.

Thanks Johnny:-)

Yes. They are not serious like the Incense, pretty like Sherbets, or natural and powerful like Red. They are kind of inserious, unimportant, "cheap":-) But interesting. I sometimes think of "fusion food" :-) when you have some ideas, few basic ingredients and you make inexpected things for fun. Well maybe my comparison is not so good:-) But I hope you know what I mean:-).

I actually kind of enjoy the fact that these scents are simple and old-fashioned in their appearance. Too bad I don't live anywhere to smell any of them let alone buy any.

What's that Comme scent that makes one smell like a church? Wasn't that the other series with "Tar" etc?

i've always wanted to delve into cdg's colognes/perfumes but i keep forgetting to. what are people's favorites? i own: cdg2, zagorsk, odeur 53 (doesn't mean i like them). i've had large samples of palisander and... i forget what else one of the reds i believe.. the name escapes me.

anyhow, looking for a new scent. any recommendations? (not feeling this new line, though the tea may be interesting)

My top five from cdg line:-

1 CDG2

2 Rubharb from Sherbert series

3 Jaisalmer from Incense

4 Odeor 71

Others I have - eau de cologne, eau de parfum (both original or comme1), 53, Vetiverru, Palisander, Harissa, Avignon, Zagorsk, Tar, Soda, Skai, Cinnamon (Sherbert), erm that's it, although that's quite a lot, hehe.

My favs are CdG2, Odeur53, Kyoto, Sequioa, Rhubarb (cream), Calamus and EdP which I don't have but hoping to get a Limited edition.

I have finished a small Odeur71 (my first ever CdG:-), sold Avignon (too strong to wear, but v. nice to smell:-). Still have Palisander, big Rose (love it but it's kind of gone bad after 3 years:-), small Harissa, Tea (a killer, I wear not so often), Vettiveru, Ouarzazate, CdG3, Sherbet Cinnamon.

Johnny, can't believe you have 3 Synthetics:-) I also like Jaisalmer and Zagorsk. All incense line is wonderful. Love the Citrico too, but 500 ml is a bit radical to me. Will get Garage someday:-)

Good list Nqth. Someone that has as many comme perfumes as me  !! I wear Avignon actually, since it reminds me of being an alter boy! The tea (leaves) one is bad bad bad - can't beleive that you wear that!

Thanks. Your list is impressive:-)

Avignon smells superb. A friend of mine (she is a lawyer, too) loves it:-) and wears it even in summer!

I always get excited when I wear Leaves Tea. After an hour or two it calms down to a very nice, sweet tea scent, with rose petals slightly swinging around. Ab. fab. :-D

2nd! And such a small bottle for $80 - not such a good value. I know they are limited edition, but their limit disappears with the perfume itelse, doesn't it?

it's funny, I bought it last summer, in Avignon! I wore it for the rest of my holiday, so I actually think of it as a summer smell. Whenever i put it on I am reminded of the little room that we stayed in in Provence....beautiful.

53 is the only one I've used (mostly because of the attractive idea of carrying a tiny bottle in a travel case, but I do love the smell as well). I also like their 2 olders unisex scents, but I don't remember their names (they both come in the bottles that can only be laid down). Nqth, Johnny, help!

Faust, it's could be the original Eau de Parfum (or comme 1) - with honey coloured botle. The Eau de Cologne has clear green botle. CdG White has a white one:-) All don't stand up. The later two are variations on the EdP.

Johnny, it's such a beautiful memory with Avignon:-)

EDIT:
Found this, the site is in german but has clear pictures. I hope it helps:-)

Ew, I don't like the bottles. Usually CDG perfume bottles are exquisite.
