Comme Des Garcons - Guerrilla Stores

Athens, Reykjavik & Glasgow

The latest issues of Wallpaper & Dazed & Confused magazine have features on the latest CDG Guerilla stores in Athens, Reykjavik & Glasgow. Can't wait to visit the Glasgow shop!!

The concept is so odd...but it functions because they're the only ppl doing it. I know that Balenciaga has a store that has bare elements, but they dont plan on moving, and it was set up that way. CDG just moves in as is. They dont even change the sign! too kool!

bah, I want to visit a Guerilla CdG store so bad.

Me too, but i doubt one opens in the USA. I dunno it doesnt seem that exotic enough cuz there is an actual CDG store in NYC. Also typical americans might not go for such an idea... i dunno..having bare elements and like a odd place might not make some1 here want to spend a lot of money, but then again its not for the average consumer due to it being a luxury item, so the ppl coming there already know what they are in store for...what a dilemma! :(

There's definitely more of a chance of a Guerilla happening in USA than here in Sydney >.<

aaaw srry :( lol im not sure if it might happen here...i dunno a cool place for one would seem like Japan in the middle of no where

hmmm Japan would be interesting, though I don't know if they need one there. CdG is too established in that place and I was thinking perhaps the Guerilla stores were in a way a marketing exercise to introduce the brand in countries where it is not so well established.

Plus having an odd store in an odd place definitely suits that type of niche market Rei is going for.

However I do hope they do plan on planting some new stores in USA and Oceania. It would definitely be interesting and I'd surely put my hand up for work at such a place heh.

But they do have temporary stores in Japan, e.g. Happy Army store done by Junya or the Jan de Kock stock which was plainly named Jan and of course the Colete meets Comme des Garcons store which was there for half as far as I remember...

Hmmm i wonder where in the USA it would be...it would be cool to have one in chicago or like someplace weird. Like someone's house as a store or something. That would be interesting.

Like it was mentioned here before in the beginning there were plans for Brooklyn, but noone has ever heard of it again.

Maybe in the US people would take the strategy and especially the name too serious...? I mean often they don't have that sense of humour and 'Guerilla' might be something with a too negative image.

yah !!! ....they might invade it........and raid the place and send all the contents to guantanamo !!:ninja: ...

The Jan store is closing (or has been closed already) but I don't know the exact date.

Europeans really need to lighten up on the US . I am sure such a store would do very well in NYC or SF.

Anyway, I don't know why the originally planned Brooklyn store was scrapped, but I am guessing it's because there are way too many CDG/Junya stocklists in NYC to begin with.
