Comme des Garcons Homme S/S 06 Paris

It's pretty unifromly awful. I agree with Lena, I think she's loosing it (Rei not Lena!). I think shes bored and doesn't know where to turn to. Mick Jagger is about as "uncool" as you can get. I think that actually annoys me more than the clothes. I have no interest whatsoever in paying homage to Mick Jagger!

Nqth is correct as usual in his referencing of previous collections. It's very similar to the AW (2001 I think) collection with the garish prints in the velvet fabrics, but at least those were "abstract" and not based on a very recognisable popular culture motif. The tartan jackets nqth referred to are the best bits by far - looks like very interesting fabric, although it is a copy of the small jackets on big jackets thing from AW2000 (which was, indeed, the best comme collection for years).

I was hoping for something simple for a change, getting back to colour, fabric, basics. This sort of gimmick is so dissappointing.

Sayan, try catwalking.com

right Johnny, homage to Mick Jagger of all people

nqth - I really like the junya collection. Its lovely. is there no thread on it yet? I like the jackets very much. Its just simple & interesting....

ot: have you heard of this new Tao by Comme des Garcons? Protege of Junya apparently?

OT: no Junya thread here yet, hopefully someone posts by the end of the day.. thanks for the news on Tao new line Helena :flower:

Yes, Helena, there were some pics here as well:-) when the Paris AW shows were took place. She is Junya Watanabe's assistant. Do you see the clothes in Paris? I hope there will be some in the Guerrilla:-)

Johnny, did you mean "paying homage to Mick Jagger" or "paying for homage to Mick Jagger?". Yea, it is pretty awful.

:D I suppose both!

How depressing.:(

By gad, that Galliano baccy has been doing the rounds.

For Rei it seems like a bit of a literal interpretation of the Rolling Stones, even Galliano would have had models dressed up as Jumping Jack Flash &c.

this collection seems an affront to the rollinGod stones :yuk:

I would say it's an affront to comme des garcons, which concerns me more!

hm.. i don't find it even all that bad. i like the cuts and the smaller prints, singular pieces in a different context could look great.
why she is paying homage to mick jagger of all people isn't clear to me either, there would have been dozens of 'rock stars' who'd deserve it better...

I quite like the fact that she pays homage to real rock band instead of some trendy 'avant' modern band...

I just love it!..

the prints the colors the cuts, i must admit are not independently impressive, interesting but not impressive,

but the feeling of the outfits is soo FUN, its like sparkles, i cant explain but i feel the contact between the personnality of the wearer and the garment is strong, very strong.

and bottom line..like Mick s gf said...its sooo comme des garcons!!! Long Live CdG planet, i have a smile on my face just thinking about it.
