I like them  they even have the little thing on the edge likke converse. I like way the soles not brilliant white. And for £6 you cant complain at all. Bargin :flower:

Not really on topic but where else can I get converse-type shoes that aren't branded? I don't really like labels but I would like a pair of inexpensive low top black shoes.

sound really random but in uk they sell loads in asda, which is own by wallmart so they might have some there :flower: try places like urban outfiters, gap, old navy that kind of place may have them

its this army store that sells bullet belts, everything camoflage (in various different colours) and scary black shiny boots and those lovely sand shoes havent a clue why:lol:

sad thing is they cant get anymore in think i may have to stock up on them:innocent:

converse have been around since the early part of the 1900s. the chuck taylors were the original basketball shoes (named for, of course, chuck taylor). it was first produced in 1917. i have worn chucks since i was like, 7, in the mid 80s, and my oldest pair is at least 12 years old. i think i currently have like, 6 pairs. my favorites are the 12 year old pair (they are a really dirty ugly tan color, low tops) and high top mono-cons (black with black soles).

jack purcells came later. they were named after jack purcell, a badminton player. they debuted in 1935. they look like this:

and i have this exact pair. i love the green! the newest version of these is tremendously comortable. they have more padding than the older ones (even the ones still made in USA). if you're sick of the chucks being "trendy" maybe you might like these. they are far less trendy.

i'm not trying to condescend, i just like the history of converse. you can say that everyone who wears them looks the same and no one is unique, but like everything, style is in the individual. it's how you wear them.

I desperately want a pair of black converse sneakers--which are easy enough to find--but I can't decide whether I should get them as high-tops or the low cut version . . . I think I am leaning toward the low cut . . . which do you guys prefer?

i like both, chrissy...lowtops look super cute with cropped pants or skirts, but the hightops are classic and you really can't go wrong with them. they're cheap enough; if you can afford it, why not get 2 pairs, in 2 colors you really love? www.converse.com has some really great new colors.

have fun! converse are so great :)

francesca   i think i love you!! you always give great advice! I had a few pairs of converse when I was younger but I always had the lowtops so it might be fun to try the hightops . . . we'll see! Maybe I'll splurge and get one of each! Thanks for the link, it's making me even more excited about what seems to be an imminent purchase :woot:

the pleasure's all mine, chrissy! be sure to show us what colors you end up getting..some of their new colors and styles are so great! i really want them all!

I don't wear them because they're a trend. I wear them because I love how they look with my clothes and because they're just so comfortable. They (my hi top black) are the only shoes I wear.

I LOVE them.

same with me!

I started wearing them last year some time...and then they came back into fashion with my friends:(....I always seem to wear the trend before it becomes a trend! I still make them look like im not following it though hehe

I saw some gorgeous Hugo Boss knockoff Converses, they were black satin with a strip of crystals around the mid foot and ankle. They were gorgeous, but the satin totally runied it's wearability.

I've loved Chuck Taylors since I was a little kid. I remember getting so excited when I got the purple high-tops I wanted for my tenth birthday. I wore them with dresses almost every day (huh, looking back, I guess I had a pretty cool style for a kid, lol).

Anyway, I'm liking Jack Purcells a lot right now. Converse is the best!

I have pink ones i changed the shoes laces to ones with pink stars on them, they looks pritty cool even if i do say so my self. Ive had loads of complements on them :)
