Cover Rumor Thread

Do you have any sources to that? I hope it's not true!

because Meisel and Franca were creative partners of VI. We don't know what will happened to VI and LUOMO. I hope that the new EIC keeps Steven working in the magazine.

I cannot believe that Franca is gone, I can't...

I have been hearing that VI has been in very very bad shape last few years. The sales have gone down so considerably there were discussions to bring in new people. And now CN has the perfect opportunity to ring them in, and make it more commercial. It's an end of an era, but without Franca, VI would never be the same anyway!

Yikes my english :hardhead: My translator is the worst

Italian Vogue is brand in itself. It's known as the world's premiere high fashion magazine. In recent years they've drifted so far from their trademark style that people have began to lose interest. The last issue I bought was the Horror Movie issue with Issa. And that was in 2014. Making this magazine more commercial would be a mistake. Then non-Meisel issues are evidence of that. The magazine needs a strong point of view that's consistent and in line with it's past while being modern. It's going to be quite the task for whoever takes over.

I think VI should continue in the current vein of different photographers, but just stick to the core of the magazine during Franca's reign and give us more social commentary. Steven Klein did an excellent Kim Kardashian satire for Love magazine a while back with fake bums. That shows that whoever they have on on their books can still produce great work, granted they're pushed hard enough (but no more Bruce Weber!). But who could we see at the helm of such a big edition (big in terms of industry reach)? Does it have to be an Italian? Certainly not Anna Dello Russo! I think Anna Wintour will have a hand in the decision-making, so it may be one of her protégés. Or maybe they'll poach someone from an indie that's doing good.
I don't think they really want to go commercial. Italian fashion magazines in general seem to place more emphasis on strong fashion imagery than features. Italy is perhaps the only country where Glamour, Elle and Marie Claire all look like VI-lite, and I say this as a compliment.

I thought they would pick someone from the current VI team, maybe Alessia Glaviano... just please no ADLR!

It's sad that in an industry that prides itself as being creative not a single name comes to mind to fill the Vogue Italia vanancy. There's literally no one that I would like to see take over this magazine. Hopefully Condé Nast surprises everyone and choices someone unknown but I doubt it.

I would love someone from the Dansk's creative team... but I think this idea is farfetched...

I just saw Instagram & i notice than Madonna will be the cover girl of the new issue of US Harper's Bazaar, shot by Luigi & Iango.

Elle Fanning's on the cover of British Elle's February issue. A nice bright image with Elle wearing a vibrant blue coat and a minimal amount of text. First issue without Lorraine Candy I think, but no signs of a huge overhaul.

Elle US February: Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley (separate covers).

Finally got the chance to read the September-January issues of US Vogue.. and my goodness, if this^^^ is really indeed for a cover for 2017... i don't even know anymore.

March 2016: Will _____ make history? coverline + editorial
November 2016: One huge endorsement page with logo, Editor's letter with a mention of the endorsement...

2017:... a cover for them?

It just doesn't look good imo. But oh well.

Hmmm. and It really does seem like Viola will be on the february issue. It's either no one bothered to book her (which is impossible since W made that multi-celeb cover) or she's up for an exclusive

Any news on Vogue Italia? I'm so anxious about it and the wait for the January issue doesn't help.

What makes you think Viola isn't on the February cover? You think it's GaGa?

Jennifer Lawrence is on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Germany for February, and I'm 100% certain it's an original shoot. Maybe one of those Dior promo shoots however, because Jennifer's wearing a feminist t-shirt from the Spring 2017 RTW show. It looked a good cover from the very small and obscure preview I just saw..
