I think VI should continue in the current vein of different photographers, but just stick to the core of the magazine during Franca's reign and give us more social commentary. Steven Klein did an excellent Kim Kardashian satire for Love magazine a while back with fake bums. That shows that whoever they have on on their books can still produce great work, granted they're pushed hard enough (but no more Bruce Weber!). But who could we see at the helm of such a big edition (big in terms of industry reach)? Does it have to be an Italian? Certainly not Anna Dello Russo! I think Anna Wintour will have a hand in the decision-making, so it may be one of her protégés. Or maybe they'll poach someone from an indie that's doing good.
I don't think they really want to go commercial. Italian fashion magazines in general seem to place more emphasis on strong fashion imagery than features. Italy is perhaps the only country where Glamour, Elle and Marie Claire all look like VI-lite, and I say this as a compliment.
