Cover Rumor Thread

Vogue is very wishy washy with the Trumps. On one hand they’re constantly bashing Donald & Ivanka, on the other they’re oohing and aahing at Melania’s dress choices. There is at least one weekly update on what Melania wore to meet whomever. I’m certain Melania will get a cover before the next election.

Highly doubtful. The praises for Melania’s fashion choices is only there, imo, to neutralize things in a way. It balances things so they won’t seem like the fashionable version of Vanity Fair with regards to politics. Their criticism as to them involves their policy, and Vogue has been very vocal against it. Anna’s smart. She knows her demographic/readers. Such can be seen on the increased rate of articles on feminism, women’s rights, heck, as far as I remember, they’re the only magazine that gave Hillary Clinton the platform to promote her new book. They even featured the women behind the women’s march and the controversial anniversary cover with the Statue of Liberty.

If Melania/Ivanka were to be given a cover, it would’ve happened by now (there’s one more month left for 2017). If it won’t happen this year, chances of it happening during the 4 yrs will never happen.

TBH, the trailer makes me less excited about that December issue...

Me too! Must admit that I'm a little nervous now, as I don't like the look of one single shoot/feature. EEK! :ninja:

I'm not fussed on any of it, yet I keep checking to see if there's a thread yet...

Are you serious? Why must they be so extra! Who will sit up until then to see a cover, which by the look of things will be a non event anyway. I can wait until tomorrow, thanks.

people don't like Kate Moss in this country very much either but that didn't stop Alexandra... and she obviously sold very well... I don't think Naomi is particularly disliked by the British public... I think she is more disliked by people who work in fashion... or maybe they are terrified of her because the woman obviously has a big heart (according to her friends) but quite a bad temper (phone throwing... rudeness...always late... remember even when she did a group shoot for Bazaar UK + Duran Duran video with the other supers. She was hours late)... Anyway, I would love to see Naomi gracing the cover of Vogue UK because she is such an icon... I am not even such a big fan of hers and in particular her recent work but she is definitely a force to be reckoned with and I think she does lots of charitable work and also did a lot for encouraging diversity in fashion...

i agree, i don't think either of them are exactly national treasures, although Kate has certainly sold extraordinarily well for 25 years. i would like to see Naomi on the cover just because it would be something special that's worth collecting. I can't believe she was late to the Duran Duran HB shoot! it's one thing to be late for literally everyone else in the industry but i would not expect that when it was shoot with her supermodel peers.

I think at this point it may be impossible to live up to the hype that's been brewing for months for the new Vogue UK. At the end of the day it's a monthly print magazine in 2017, we might have to adjust our expectations and put things in perspective a bit.

We're waiting for Edward's Vogue, there's a new editor also installed at UK Elle, and UK Bazaar continues to be a quality print product that is slowly increasing its circulation; it seems all the action is happening with UK magazines.

I like the way Conde Nast's current promotional material for Christmas print magazine subscriptions is offering a two-year deal for UK Glamour.

Not true! Despite her personal intrigue, Kate Moss is still as beloved as ever. Especially in the UK. It's sbit silly to detract from her especially with her insanely succesful Topshop collabs, strong style following, the endless stream of UK Vogue covers (bearing in mind Alexandra was very preoccupied with those who sold well), her VF covers, campaigns. Part of Kate's enduring appeal is her urban legend motto - 'don't complain, don't explain.'

If so many people liked Naomi I wonder why they didn't watch her much publicised tv show. Or why she doesnt get much traction even in the mainstream British press? Because bad attitude burns bridges, that's why.

I literally PMed this to another member a few days ago - how we are having such a turning moment in fashion print right now. It makes me excite again - we lost Glamour, InStyle had me intrigued before they closed, new Elle does, Harper's always did because I likeit for what it is, there will be change at VF, renewed my interest in Tatler, so it would be nice for Vogue to follow suit. I'm even thinking to look elsewhere for my journalistic fix if the fashion imagery is this good.

You could at least say you disagree. Not true with an exclamation mark is a bit too much ;-)

I also think 'don't complain, don't explain' is the worst moto for a working woman in the world of showbiz.

Naomi has strong opinions and very often she is vilified for them. Kate barely says more than a sentence.

Anyway, I guess this discussion is no longer necessary. Particularly, in this thread.

^Zilch, surprisingly! Vogue Paris usually let loose who've they got to guest-edit the December/January issue a few months prior to the issue's release but we've heard nothing this year. WWD received the Karl Lagerfeld scoop last year, if I remember correctly.

I just hope it's a designer again. Just not Maria, please! I say that because Dior seems to be on a spending spree with all the covers Bella has been getting, hiring new faces and whatnot. If Alt had her way it would be Vaccarello, can imagine her going to town on him.

Margot Robbie just did a shoot, and she's getting Oscar buzz for I, Tonya. Anyone know if she has any covers coming up?
