Cover Rumor Thread

It’s gonna be an actress

I wonder if it’s going to be one of the Oscar winners since the Oscars is the 25th and with Edwards new schedule of releasing the cover on the last Monday of the month it would fit perfectly.

Why a magazine from Britain will do cover shoot with an award from America? BAFTA would be possible.

Because it’s more prestigious than a BAFTA. You could say it’s the most prestigious film award, even if it’s an American one.

Of course it is. But all in all it's an award from America and Britain has its own academy awards and actresses.

It'll probably be Germanotta then, regardless of whether she'll win or not. She was also enough absent from the February issue which was odd. The others in that category are a bit unlikely for a British Vogue cover under Edward.

^ Ah right, Gaga! It could totally be her, didn't hear anyhting about the cover. Except the rumor that Edward is working hard to convince Meisel to shoot Kate, so far it ain't looking good, but he might get it done in the end.

Also forget about Meisel at VI, its game over, he has zero interest in the magazine under the new EIC. So they would have to really butter the bread for him to come back, even more than usual!

I also think that ship has sailed! His photographer choices are very left-field, can't make sense of it. I don't think them losing Meisel was intentional.

I imagine Gaga will be shot by I&V, her go-to, which would also mean that it's actually their first cover under Edward. And since they've shot themselves in the foot by cosigning James Scully's IG, doubt we'll see them shooting an American Vogue cover anytime soon.

^I&V photographed Fran Summers for the November 2018 cover.

We done pretty well to have Naomi Campbell back on the cover of British Vogue this month, so I won't complain at the thought of an actress for April. I also certainly wouldn't mind Gaga by I&V since they often work together so well. She also photographed beautifully by Mert & Marcus for US Vogue.

I&V already shot a cover under Edward. The one with Fran Summers last year.

I could see Nick Knight shooting the Lady Gaga cover.

Just Meisel being like the most of us here.

I wonder what it took to have Meisel photograph the March 2018 issue. Clearly he’s still kinda up for it, but as you’ve said, there’s A LOT of convincing to do.

Makes me wonder, is VI not willing to spend for Meisel? Clearly VI, being one of the big fours, has the same budget as UK Vogue. So I’m guessing it’s more than just mere consideration.

From what I know, they still want him on board. As to what’s happening, I have no idea.

I'd love that. The Born This Way era by Nick Knight was the last time I felt Gaga's artistry was relevant anyway. But I think he'd be too "indie" for her Hollywood, star is born bullsh*t and that she'd go for something classic by I&V instead.

I'd love Gaga to be on the April cover of UK Vogue, I was almost certain she'd end up on the February issue.

Could be Olivia Colman though? She just won the BAFTA, is nominated at the Oscars and the new season of The Crown comes out later this year.

Cosmo UK have shot upcoming covers with Stacey Dooley? and Danni Dyer.

Rumour that Rosie HW won't do Harpers this year, but will do Vogue UK.

Brooklyn Beckham has photographed this years film portfolio for Vogue UK.

Brie Larson has guest edited the whole issue of next week Stylist Magazine in England.

Terribly disappointed that Glenn Close is not even considered by these magazines.

All these magazines talk about diversity as if diversity is exclusive to race. What about women of age? of different sizes?

This is the perfect opportunity to feature Glenn Close and yet we’re still seeing the likes of Gaga, Colman ++

Not sure it’s fair to use Coleman as an example of someone who’s regularly receiving covers. She’s never covered a single magazine to my knowledge, despite having been a huge success here in the UK for a number of years before The Favourite.

I do believe however if Alexandra was still at Vogue she’d likely have gotten a cover.

Olivia should've gotten the cover in 2017 already for Broadchurch, instead, she only got the interview. Based on the photographer who shot her edit then, I'd say she wasn't considered for the cover. It seems she's more likely to get American Vogue first before she gets British Vogue, which is preposterous.

I hope Justine will give her a cover!

Um, check any issue of UK Vogue, and Edward Enninful is the only EIC who is putting his money where his mouth is! In his 1 year he has used more mature women inside the magazine (and on the cover)than Alexandra has done in her 25 years! Not to mention that he has worked with models of different sizes. He IS doing it!

Now as for Glenn, as talented as she is, it would be suicide for any mainstream magazine to put her on the cover, because you wouldn't sell, at all. It's just how it is, I love her look, and think she photographs well, and has such presence, but cover girl she is not. Magazines are dying, it is impossible to move print these days, Either way, i doubt someone like Close cares about covers anyway.
