Cover Rumor Thread

Anna is never ever getting this.
It will be Edward. If I can recall she never had Princess Diana, Bazaar US had the exclusivity right?

If tFS is supposed to be the web’s largest community of fashion insiders/‘influencers’ and posters are supposed to be fairly knowledgeable about the inner workings of the fashion industry, including magazines, why is it that your post is the only one that makes logical sense?

I don’t get it. This isn’t the comment section of some random gossip site full of the uninformed, people on here should know better, right?

I'm happy to live in the land of absurd speculation, because these days, the thoughts amuse me more than the actual magazines ever will. I'm taking a moment to imagine Meghan turning up on the front of US Bazaar with the baby story. Even better, doing a pregnancy cover like the Britney Spears one.

You're probably right, but you know she's trying. Either way, Duchess Meghan will get a Vogue cover.

Where is Vogue México / Latin America?

Same question, their cover reveal is a little late. An instagram page that I follow posted an editorial with Anais Pouliot with #may2019 but then I stalked the photographer and is a tbt.

And for the Meghan speculation cover in Vogue US... maybe for September? I don’t see anyone strong enough (yet) to get the cover for that month

Of course you’d say that.

I just distinctly remember that when MM was on Vanity Fair pre-engagement she was trashed for it on these forums and that later when she got married and people started speculating, she was only deemed good enough for trashy Vanity Fair but now that she’s giving birth soon, I guess she’s good enough for the big prize on these forums. Sexist much?

I just think this baseless speculation about which cover she’ll land is absolutely silly for many reasons, the biggest of which is the fact that while she was born American she’s a British citizen now, you know so the IRS can’t have access to BRF finances for tax purposes, so it makes no logical sense to speculate that she’ll be in American Vogue when she’s British and would use a British Vogue cover to speak to British people. I mean, I didn’t know US Vogue was sold at the local Tesco, but whatever.

I just think now especially in this alternative facts hell in which we live, I like to live in reality, no matter the significance of the conversation.

Naomi Watts has an upcoming shoot styled by Sarah Gore Reeves, maybe for HB Australia

Alt posted in her IG Story what seems to be a location for an upcoming editorial.

Maybe the Nancy drews in here could spot the photographer/model/crew present

I'm still not over that Vanity Fair cover Meghan did lol, I generally feel pretty sympathetic towards her re her treatment by the British media but that was pretty much asking for it tbh. Were they even engaged at that point? Maybe it was Harry's idea too to introduce her to the public but you'd think he'd know better and it definitely made her look attention seeking and desperate lol. I'm anti-royal in general and don't particularly care to see them on magazine covers but I honestly believe the anti-Meghan parade in Britain hate the fact she isn't white and has 'tainted' the monarchy. Sad to believe such disgusting attitudes still exist but it's true. Having her cover Vogue would probably send them over the edge, and for that I would love to see it

There's certainly a large amount of antipathy directed towards Meghan, but for me, it's less racism and more a real demonstration of how much class matters in the UK, especially in relation to the Royal Family.

In the first instance, Kate Middleton was given a hard time for a while, before it became evident she was a good fit for the 'job' - and she was a middle-class white person, which some people might imagine isn't a million miles away from the Royal Family. But it's not. We forget how she was treated. And maybe it wasn't noticed that much outside of the UK.

Also, in Wallis Simpson, there's an established example in history of how an American woman can represent a threat to the integrity of the Royal Family, along with the stereotype of the 'vulgar American' - having no sense of decorum, being brash and obsessed with your own celebrity. Even to this day, by aristocratic standards, to be American is to be seen as having no class, in any sense of the word.

So, in my eyes, when it comes to Meghan, racism is in the mix, but it's trumped by class.

To keep things on track - I see British Vogue was making a big deal about Idris Elba's wedding and was mentioning some sort of exclusive in the July issue.

Nah, it's pure racism. White people will talk themselves in circles about class or whatever other nonsense, but there's a lot of people who will never get over a white Prince marrying a biracial American woman. They will pick at, and over analyze every single thing she does, and pretend it's some major faux pas, and breach of their ridiculous monarchy. Now people are mad because she doesn't want to publish pics of her baby right away. The woman can't win.

Whatever side eye treatment Kate got, was probably class based, even tho her parents made a fortune selling party balloons.:bounce:

I hope Meghan does something super glam and glitzy for Vogue. Something to really piss them all off.

On a purely personal level, I genuinely don’t know a single person who has anything other than pleasant feelings towards Meghan. Perhaps there’s some pockets of dislike for her but I have to say, I’ve not experienced any of it. Harry is very well liked and as a result Meghan seems to be also.

I can’t see her going on Vogue in the near future but I’m sure it’ll happen. It’s worth keeping in mind that aside from Kate’s Vogue cover they have also appeared in GQ and William covered Attitude. It’s very clearly a push to make the family more visible in that sense, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the same rolled out to Harry and Meghan. He’s already covered GQ twice I believe and it caused little uproar for the fact he’d chosen to do so, yet when Megan covered Vanity Fair it’s seemingly a shameful thing to have done?

I guess the Meghan hate is UK media-based? I live in a random European country and Meghan is a pretty big and well loved celebrity here. I have tons of acquaintances who repost her outfits on social media, try to emulate her style and local websites and newspapers regularly publish favorable pieces on her and Harry. We have nothing to do with either the UK or the US as a country and yet she's always in the news.

From what I've seen it does seem to be mainly British-based antipathy towards her - and I think your point about the class issue is totally correct too, tigerrouge. I do remember Kate getting a lot of flack about spending money on kitchens and only doing a few engagements a year. What I've noticed though is that now Meghan's came on the scene the hatred has shifted towards her and intensified - while the same people that used to constantly trash Kate paint her as a saint by comparison who can do no wrong, come up with ridiculous theories about the Queen's relationship with each of them, I could go on...it's all helped along by certain parts of the media that publish daily articles suggesting Meghan is demanding, spending taxpayer's money etc. Meanwhile the other half (including Vogue) seem to adore her, waxing on and on about her every move like starstruck teenagers...it seems as though people either love her or hate her (at least in Britain) so if Edward does bag her I think it will be a best-seller, but I also think there'll be a lot of backlash.
