Cover Rumor Thread

^Ah that makes sense!!!!! Thanks for clarifying Mr-Dale :)! I just reread MyNameIs's post and I see what they meant now.

I don't think Karlie Kloss is out of the question. She is a mini-mogul model at the ripe age of 16. It is rare that someone at her age accomplishes so much, let alone work that is of such high caliber and quality. And I honestly believe she is in it for the long run. When we look back to 2009/2010 ten years from now, I think Karlie will pop out as the top model.

Featuring Karlie on the cover would be an excellent decision on Vogue's part, not because she is my absolute favorite model of all time, but because I think she is current, I think she is successful, and I think she is in all-around good model.

I think Karlie Kloss makes a lot of sense on the cover of the Shape Issue but then again, I may be totally wrong.

^I think she makes sense too. And if she isn't featured, it doesn't mean we are wrong necessarily, it just means that Anna isn't ready to embrace a non-traditional cover model, for her magazine anyway. If they have decided to feature a model on the cover this month (presumably one of the only Vogue covers this year which we will see a model on), it should be someone current, and Karlie has current written all over her. And it's not like she is brand new to the magazine. She has been featured consistently and heavily. It is obvious that Anna appreciates her as a model, so there is no reason why she shouldn't have at least one cover. In addition, if people have been writing in letters about Karlie, which some of you have mentioned, then there shouldn't be a big fear that she won't sell magazines.

Still, my bets are on Gisele. She makes the most sense for the magazine. Not that I want to see her there, but it just seems right to me.

I remember reading on twitter that Liya and Jourdan shot an ed for US Vogue mid January. I'm sure neither will be on the cover but maybe there will be a feature within about models that have children?.

karlie doesn't have the body to be on the cover of a shape issue.
Well, I can't agree with you on that. She represents the tall, thin woman, so she actually does have the body to be on the cover of the shape issue. Her name keeps appearing in the "talking back" letters on Vogue and she is Anna's darling, so if she gave Karolina Kurkova the chance to be on a Vogue cover when she was 16, it makes perfect sense that she may give Karlie the same chance. Not that she is my favourite model, I'd rather have Doutzen (athletic) in this issue's cover but I guess I won't be that lucky.

When I mentioned about looking at the letters, I was thinking that the magazine is using the page as a place to promote the idea to readers that someone is a popular model.

It's a decision by the magazine to use that small space to reinforce the perception that model x is someone to keep an eye on - a tiny part of the plan of grooming a Vogue girl for greater recognition. You can't run an article about someone in every issue, but you can try to sneak in another reader's letter. It's a sign of which model they want us to like.

Or maybe that's just how my mind works. Maybe a letters page is just a letters page - but under Anna Wintour, I'm guessing no inch of that magazine is left to chance, not when it can wield an influence. Maybe not many people are writing in about Karlie (or Natalia or whoever), but Vogue really wants us to think that she's wildly popular - and therefore, we should all get with it.

I don't really see Karlie having the body for a shape issue at all, or at least not in the same way a model like Daria or Gisele would. And not due to her weight or anything either, when I see Karlie I don't notice her body really, she's more of a model who just has a face to me in a sense.

...which super-photographer is threatening not to renew his contract with that blue chip mag should he ever gain be saddled with a certain temperamental super-stylist. He is simply not used to be being spoken to that way. Talent is sensitive kids!

^ I thought so too...apparantly she's a demanding person to work with  and I thought she seemed like a sweetheart :ninja:.

Their last collaboration was in November last year...and she's the only new stylist to enter Meisel's world in recent years. It would also explain why Meisel only worked once with her for US Vogue...

It's a shame because I think their stories are very good together.

if that's Sauvé, then Meisel will no longer shoot Balenciaga ads... and could she be also the reason why Carine & VP team have been banned from Balenciaga shows? BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

^JUICY!!!!!!!!!! This HAS to be about Marie-Amelie Sauve and Steven Meisel. I cannot think of anyone else it could be!

And Pedro, I had NO idea the VP team was banned from Balenciaga!?!?! Where did you hear about this? If it's true, then MMA must be a super-stylist and a super-B***H!

I mean, she is one of the most talented stylists working today, but--if this is all true--it looks like working at U.S. Vogue has caused her to all of the sudden think she can be Anna Wintour !

Some of this may explain why she stopped working at VP. I mean, why would she just up and leave one of, if not the most influential fashion magazine after such a lengthy tenure? There must have been some disagreements, and this makes me think it was all on her part, especially the fact that her work for the magazine started to dwindle month by month, and then all out disappear completely. And here I thought she was a timid sweet Parisienne with a penchant for cute, quirky fashion!

^MMA, thanks for the link :)! I hadn't heard about it and it sounded too over-the-top to be true. But wow! Shocking! It's nice to see that mature designers and editors can behave like 13-year-old mean girls. . .!
