Cover Rumor Thread

Woah, Jamie Bell for Vogue? That's pretty weird for an actor to be appear in Vogue, no?

And if the clean-living yet unstylish Britney of "back then" could get a cover, then putting Beyonce on the cover would be no different.

In terms of cover trends, I note that W has been going for the new formula of "girl and guy" covers, and with the news of Gisele and the sportsman, I was wondering if US Vogue is going to pick up on that as well... sure, they've had girl-and-guy covers in the past, but so infrequently, we remember them as an event. Could we be seeing more of them?
As always good point Tigerrouge, maybe they are, and i think US Vogue definietly is in need of spicing things up.I like seeing more than one person on the cover, i think that Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford was such a beautiful and simple cover,i love it still.

But since W is alredy been doing it for a while now, it will get old seeing that on US Vogue aswell....

And i always loved when they featured two models at once, sigh these days they are afraid to put one,let alone two on the cover.

In terms of celebrity covers, it saddens me that the trend is for scandalous celebrities, now that everyone is tired of PR-managed actresses who give the same quotes in every interview.

You can see how it makes excellent sense on a business level, but on another level, to give so much coverage to women who are doing this with their lives... it's nothing new to be obsessed with drug-addled people, but these days, very few of these people seem to be producing the output that wild-living celebrities in previous decades at least managed. Party girl Lindsay Lohan is no Ava Gardner. Does Lindsay work as an actress at all these days?

And Amy Winehouse, the world didn't pay attention to that voice before her life turned into a mess and she turned into a walking cartoon of a woman. And good as Amy's album may be, she's no David Bowie. Or any other musician that forged a new style of music thanks to the creative side of drugs. Amy's a superb reworking of something that's already gone before, and there's a sense of 'dead end' about that.

^^Aaah yes i hear you, its also down to the time we live in.With the internet and all celeb shows on TV.etc ,it gets to much because of the easy acess we have but yes stars of yesteryear knew how to keep their private lives private but the fact there was no internet and less intruson helped i think.

And because the market is so crowded and now magazines have to compete with blogs.etc i think most of them are just after what is selling and nothing shifts copies more than a scnadalous cover subject.

Nick Knight said he was campaigning to shoot Paris Hilton for UK Vogue but Alexandra shut it down, now what does that tell you?Its all about how you will get attention but i wish they didnt feature troubled stars like Amy or Pete the whole glorification of thier lifestyle makes me sick, no matter how talented they might be.

But who isnt scandalous today? When you see a lady like Jemima Khan going out (several times)sans underwear then my god nothing is a surprise anymore.

There is no way you can call Spice Girls mediocre(their talents yes,not their achievements)stars. At that time which was in 1997 Spice Girls were on peak of their fame and they were in huge demand...

I didn't mean to suggest that the Spice Girls weren't massive stars, but at the time I felt that their inclusion into the supposedly high-class world of Vogue was a bit of a sellout. I was repulsed back then, but I dealt with it. And today I figure why doesn't Vogue just "sellout" by including the rest of the Sex and the City women on the cover? The show was massive, and so many people are drooling over this movie, why not just go all out? Oh well.

Meanwhile, Jamie Bell in Vogue? I had quietly put up with the Channing Tatum feature (ugh), but Jamie will make up for that. I love him!

^^Oh ok i see your point, maybe the SG cover didnt sell well and they said no more group covers hahah.

I love when they feature young male actors in their mag, wonder if Jamie will have an edit like Tatum and Affelk.

No its not, it happens quite often, most of the time the actor is accompanied by a model in the ed like Eric Bana with Gisele or Hayden Christensen with Karolina and Jake Gyllenhaal with Daria to name a few examples.

Looks like W April has a feature on Michael Patrick King and Shirley MacLaine. I think they will announce the cover soon they seem to always publish a few of the features on their website first and then release the cover details.

W APRIL...

NOT JUST BOURBON STREET: News magazines have thoroughly brought the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina's devastation on New Orleans to life, but W wanted to showcase the people who embody the lively spirit of the Big Easy in a 60-page photo essay for its April issue. Photographer Bruce Weber, along with stylist Karl Templer (who is said to be in talks to join Interview as creative director), shot supermodel Karen Elson and New Orleans' restaurateurs, musicians and otherwise colorful personalities that have rarely been featured in stories about the city. "Obviously, Katrina is and always will be a part of the history and future of New Orleans," said W creative director Dennis Freedman, of the shoot. "The point of the story is to show people who haven't been spotlighted in the media in the past." Among those shot were New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees; legendary former quarterback Archie Manning, father to the NFL's Eli and Peyton; chef Leah Chase, and students at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. "[Weber] is the photographer who best captures the humanity and personality and the heart and soul of a person," added Freedman. Weber seems to be a fan of Southern souls: the photographer also shot a portfolio of Mississippi for W in 1997.

Hardbodies Unite in New Issue of Vogue

NEW YORK — LeBron James is striking a pose in April's Vogue, which features the NBA star and supermodel Gisele Bundchen on the cover.
Bundchen, who stands 5-foot-11, wasn't intimated by James' 6-foot-8, 350-pound frame. "He doesn't really make you feel small, even though he is big," she says in the magazine.
"I think my leg is like the size of his shoe," she adds.
The duo is one of several athlete-model pairings in the magazine's annual shape issue. It's only the third time a man has appeared on a Vogue cover, with James following in the footsteps of Richard Gere, who appeared with Cindy Crawford in 1992, and George Clooney, who also appeared with Bundchen in 2000.
The pairing of the All-Star forward and the runway icon was shot in January by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz in James' hometown of Akron, Ohio. Others inside the new issue include swimmer Michael Phelps with Caroline Trentini, snowboarder Shaun White with Daria Werbowy; and speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno with Doutzen Kroes.
They all talk about their bodies - and each other's.
Model Raquel Zimmermann (5-foot-10) told discus thrower Jared Rome that he wasn't as super-sized as she was expecting.
"You're not as tall as I thought you'd be," responds the 6-foot-tall Rome, who weighs 310 pounds and was appears to lift Zimmermann with one arm in a photo.
