Cover Rumor Thread

V magazine is trying to make a big splash. The fashion glossy is moving away from skinny recent cover girls like Natalie Portman and Aussie model Miranda Kerr and switching to plus-size models in its January issue. "Big, little, pint-size, plus-size -- every body is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it," editor-in-chief Stephen Gan says. Among the beauties V shot is "Hungry" memoirist and plus-size model Crystal Renn. We hear other shoots will range from fully dressed to nude and be done by Terry Richardson, Bruce Weber and Karl Lagerfeld.

Sounds tedious to me. I'm bored of Crystal Renn always brought out for these hypocritical issues, then never seen again until the next

All this discussion of Love makes me wonder, does anybody know when we should expect hearing about the next issue of Pop?

Can you imagine the horror of being Angela Lindvall and getting a photo of BryanBoy as art direction for your Fendi shoot?

! Sounds like a nightmare to me! And it's not like he was the first person to do that pose; it's standard Vogue. He is copying something that he probably saw in a magazine at some point which the people at Fendi then appropriated again as part of their advertisement. The Regime of the Simulacrum at its best !

Love magazine - yesterday's trends brought to you tomorrow.

! And I guess the same can be said of V as well. We do live in an age where everything is a copy of a copy of a copy though; originality is secondary.

RE: V Magazine issue devoted to 'plus-size models'...

Weight talk is not allowed on tFS ... with 2 exceptions (See the Community Rules, linked at the bottom of every forum page). I am moving this discussion to the Size Zero thread which is the only place you may discuss size in the fashion industry.

Can't WAIT to see Melanie Laurent. I had never really noticed her until Inglourious Basterds. She was just unbelievably stunning - and superb - in that movie.

I wonder if this is for the 'Hollywood' issue?
I'm hoping we get the traditional cover next year after this year's Obama cover...
