Cover Rumor Thread

I haven't read British Vogue in quite some time; has she even had a feature in that yet? Seems odd the US is coming first.

I hope she'll talk about the positively horrid brown leather trousers everyone was so angry about. Perhaps a photo of her stood in front of her shoe closet?

Okay, I don't even want a page with this woman... enough we have these monster plastered all over our newspapers...

Phew! In this BBC article, confirmed by a #10 spokesperson, there is no mention of a cover. Only a spread.

@Honeycombchild: In her role as PM, no exclusive interview for UK Vogue yet. Nothing for any of the other UK glossies either (to my knowledge). But I do recall 10 Downing hosted a fashion luncheon, and Alexandra Shulman came away with nothing but praise for her. That was in September last year. Odd to think that an American glossy will now get the first exclusive!

The idea of May in any sort of Vogue is absolutely revolting.

Not that much excited with her. The only politician woman I'd like to see featured or get the cover is a long shot now (cries). It's never gonna happen anymore.

That said, it really is interesting to see her not being featured in UK Vogue. Maybe there was no offer? I highly doubt that it'll be good for her image to turn down a UK feature but agree on a US one.

And another question that comes into mind is.. of all the woman politicians out there, why her? There're a lot of women new comers in US that would've easily been a better read. It just doesn't make sense.

Joan posted a preview pic of a shoot with Mariano Vivanco on her instagram. Could it be a Vogue Brasil or Vogue Russia cover?

I doubt whether there was an offer from British Vogue, and I most certainly doubt she'd have turned it down also.

Theresa is the first female British PM since Thatcher (who ended her run in 1990), so I guess they'll beat that angle to death. Also, in December Vogue ran an exclusive feature with Italy's Matteo Renzi where he talked of grand plans for his country (he would subsequently be ousted while the issue was still on newsstands). So this sort of thing is not rare for US Vogue. But you're right. It's maybe not the perfect time to put her on a pedestal. Why didn't we for instance see Yulia Tymoshenko, and those glorious milkmaid braids, in Vogue (during her heyday, of course)? She at least oozed glamour and sophistication, and had the cultural impact to back it up.

British Vogue has featured Nicole Sturgeon so I find it odd Theresa is ending up in US Vogue before the British edition. But yes, perhaps she wasn't offered it. To be honest her very awkward shoot for a British newspaper went down like a lead balloon, so I could see the skepticism.

I mean even the mere fact that she has time to do a Vogue photoshoot in these times of uncertainty... that really makes me angry!!!

While a cover would have been absurd, I don't think a feature in US Vogue is too far-fetched considering that in April the UK will have triggered Article 50 to leave the EU and therefore international relations are ever-more important. Trump will have been sworn in as POTUS (in this bizarre alternative universe that we are currently living) and is a big supporter of the UK. It's more exotic to read about the big changes in other countries than your own bleak environment sometimes.

Remember Anna is English, this is probably important to her (especially since Hillary has kind of withdrawn :( )

During the campaign for Theresa May as PM, the UK press were wild and reported every little thing they could find on her. IMO British Vogue is more likely to feature her later in the year when "Brexit" is in full swing, rather than now when there is nothing new to talk about.
The recent Sunday Times interview turned sour because of comments about the cost of what she was wearing, which is frankly ridiculous. Woman earns a lot of money and can spend said money on what she wants, whether that be a £900 holiday or a £900 pair of trousers.

Not to cause an argument, but all country leaders and officials do press KissMiss, whether it be Vogue, Time Magazine, or the BBC, it is part of their schedule. It's no different to shaking the hands of their constituents or attending PMs Questions.

(sorry for the essay, I feel quite strongly about this one)

Where's Allure?

I don't know if there's anything strange going on, but Allure seems to have stopped being imported into my part of the UK, because I haven't seen the last two months' issues on sale anywhere.

^I saw Allure's January issue with Zendaya in the North East yesterday.. but no signs of American Vogue's January edition with Ruth Negga on the cover. Immensely frustrating when it's out everywhere else.

Allure is quite late here as well, December issue with Gigi came out last week.
Btw Alicia Keys is on the February cover, I just saw it on FamousFix.

I recently discovered that they stopped importing Allure to Estonia as well, very strange. Meanwhile Allure Russia is still on sale, didn't it shut down?

As much as I appreciate your comment, I think she has more pressing issues to worry about. I would accept your comment if the political climate in this country was ordinary. We might be on the brink of a collapse and the only thought that she might be fannying about with Leibovitz and chanting to herself that "Brexit means Brexit" makes me physically sick. Sorry, I guess I am just very frustrated.

I think at the end of the day we have to understand that yes, she is indeed Primeminster, but there is nothing to say she wasn't shot on say, a sunny Saturday afternoon at her home. Much like The Times article was shot. She is our Primeminster but that doesn't mean she has to be dealing with the issues of an entire nation 24/7.

I can't say I am a fan of her or the work she's undertaking but I don't see any harm in her partaking in a photoshoot that was realistically probably only a few hours and wasn't exactly going to have been shot at the same time as a cabinet meeting that she should have been attending.

Yes, she said it herself, she loves fashion and style (debatable, going purely on those awful trousers and streetwalker boots). As such, she obviously would not even think twice before shooting for Vogue.

Lets also not forget, a Vogue feature would in a way serve as PR for her career. In addition to a glimpse into her private life.

I agree. I would not be surprised when in a couple of years this will turn out like a "Rose of the Desert" moment. How long before Melania?
