Cover Rumor Thread

I mean even the mere fact that she has time to do a Vogue photoshoot in these times of uncertainty... that really makes me angry!!!

Funny, I don't remember reading any of these "she has better things to do" comments when Hillary Clinton was rumored for a US Vogue cover in December...

Hillary was a candidate... even if she became the president she would not have had such an imminent crisis to deal with... Theresa May is the Prime Minister who currently has a very difficult task at her hands... This is turning into a political discussion.

US Vogue's cover stars are not working out for me.. and it's just Feb! Dakota... Melania... it's not looking good.

Imaan, Kendall, Gigi, Ashley Graham, Vittoria Cerretti and another girl did a shoot a while ago. Any chance this may be for a cover? It looked very summery.

Seriously feel like this is another Mario Testino summer editorial by the pool. Highly doubt Anna will put Ashley and/or Vittoria on the cover. And just by Ashley, Vittoria, and Kendall in one shoot just doesn't excite me nor does it do anything for me.

Presenting any politician in a fashion mag is giving them a sort of gloss of consensus and acceptance, when Theresa May is everything but, she is a totally divisive figure. The last thing she should be doing is parading in fashion mags, when everything about her primership would make a wonderful episode od the "Thick of it". It's no coincidence that it's Vogue US that first came calling, this feature in the UK would be much harder to digest and would align Vogue in Britain with some really unsavoury individuals. Alexandra knows where her bread is buttered.

And when your deputy editor is the sister of David Cameron's wife, that adds another dimension.

Sharapova was on set with Annie Leibovitz today. [ x x ]

^ Phyllis Posnick is in one of her stories video. So I guess Vogue but not a cover? She's coming back in April so should be for that.

The rumors mentioned a cover in case of victory. Let's not pretend the president-elect of the divided states of America has nothing better to do than posing for Vogue... just like your PM. Yet several members here were really excited by the possibility of this cover.

Well this is your opinion (not saying I disagree with it ;)) HC is seen as a divisive figure by some as well. I think many people are simply not at ease with the idea of their politicians living a comfortable life and 'parading' in our fashion mags, like you said. I know I'm one of them, and as much as I don't like, it seems that it's only going to be a 2-3 pages feature...

Absolutely agree! The idea of "Thick of it" really excited me though;-)))

To be honest I have no problem with politicians doing the odd appearances in fashion mags, a Hillary Clinton cover would be justified by the fact that would be a celebration of a trimph. She worked hard, she won. On the other hand we have people like May that did absolutely nothing to rest on her laurels( she was not even elected) and is already doing fashion mags, that is indeed purely an endorsement by Vogue, there is no other angle, and it's bound to irritate the half that cannot stand her.

So is it safe to assume that March US Vogue is Mrs. Melania Trump, First Lady. This time last 2009, it was Michelle.

You reckon she would have been shot already? I was thinking maybe later this year due to all the backlash. I wonder which brand will get her cover.

Londoner's Diary: British Vogue's Alexandra Shulman picks Michelle Obama over Theresa May

In today's Diary: Alexandra Shulman wants Michelle

When news broke that Theresa May would soon grace the cover of US Vogue, some wondered if the Vivienne Westwood-clad Prime Minister had chosen new Dame Anna Wintour over her UK counterpart Alexandra Shulman. But the woman at the helm of our fashion bible says that she wasn’t interested: she’d rather have Michelle Obama.

Last night Shulman, who has edited British Vogue for almost quarter of a century, was interviewed onstage at Kings Place by lawyer Miriam González Durántez as part of Jewish Book Week and Shulman’s diligent publicity trail of her book, Inside Vogue: A Diary of My 100th Year.

After an extensive discussion of a busy 2016, González Durántez brought up May’s forthcoming appearance in the April issue of US Vogue. First, Shulman cast doubt over the suggestion that the PM had clinched a cover. “That’s not entirely clear,” she said. “I’m not sure whether she is [on the cover].” So why is she not in British Vogue instead? “I’m afraid I didn’t ask her,” Shulman shrugged. So who is on her future hit list? Melania Trump? “I don’t know about Melania on a cover,” she said. “But she’s not First Lady yet. I think I’d rather concentrate on trying to get Michelle Obama.” The audience burst into applause.

Despite favouring Mrs Obama, and nailing her stylish colours to the mast by printing a Samantha Cameron editorial in the last issue, Shulman clarifed that there was no bad blood between herself and May. “She’s very nice,” said Shulman. “On Desert Island Discs she said she’d like a lifetime subscription to Vogue as her luxury item. So before she became Prime Minister I arranged that.”

Vanity Fair is definitely out of the picture. Lol. Seriously not seeing this as a good move for any of the CN brands or any brand for that matter. The march that just happened is a big testament to that.

Yes, oh dear. Anna is cornered here. On the one hand she most likely already said yes to a cover (the Trumps would want one sooner rather than later), and on the other hand she's got the wrath of half a million people, most of them women, to deal with.

I don't think it will be that bad of a move for CN. Most people are rational and they are marching against Donald, not Melania. The same way that most don't hold the misogynistic actions of Hillary's husband against her, most don't hold the misogynistic actions of Melania's against her.
