Cover Rumor Thread

So US Vogue September is still a toss up, but we’re leaning more towards GaGa by IV, right?

Normally when actresses get a cover for a particular film, as it seems to be the case with Lady Gaga and "A Star Is Born", they get it the month the movie comes out - Dakota, Zendaya, Jennifer Lawrence and Alicia Vikander come to mind since 2017. Daisy Ridley got November when Star Wars came out in December, though, so anything is possible. September or October for sure.

I thought since the film will be released on the 4th of Oct, she'd defo get it for September.

Guess the rumour of Beyonce for US Vogue September turned out to be false.....

The drama over Beyonce is probably between the US and UK editions, meaning who will get her first.

None of these people appeal to me, but thanks for the news! :pink:

Oh, didn't even think of that, but could be. Funny thing is Edward's Vogue is the new "flagship Vogue" in the sense that every major Celeb and their PR wants the cover. Used to be Anna's, but no more.

Rihanna is probably moved for a month or two, I bet by her own choice.

True! He's on a high. And if he can get Meghan, no...when he'll get Meghan, he'd be able to walk into US Conde Nast and get that corner office on a platter. I expect we won't have to wait very long to see her on UK Vogue.

So last year Meisel shot only 2 covers for VI. And for 2018 we've only seen March so far. Does it mean he could get August, or one of the autumn covers? Also, I suppose it's safe to say Farneti and his team have not managed to persuade Meisel to shoot more, and in the process resulted in the success of British Vogue. Bad decision-making at play. He can blow his own horn as much as he can, but I'm sure he's gutted over Meisel's growing absence.

Heard a story of a major A-list star that had been in negotiations for a future cover, and because of scheduling issues her team, instructed by her, boldly asked if instead they could get UK Vogue cover. Anna Wintour was described as LIVID! Must be tough to not be the star of CN anymore.

Meghan is 100 % on a future cover, probably next year, and Edward will end up at US Vogue for sure. He wants it bad!

Emanuele is in a tough position with Meisel, because he has the power to do as he wishes. And the man can be damn impossible! We will see him shoot for VI again, this year.

I wonder if any model will surpass Bellas September 17 cover take down, this year....

I don't get around the hype over Edward's Vogue.

The only reason why I think celebs clamor to get a cover is because Edward made the cover very accessible to them. What was once an exclusive club (albeit very white) under Alexandra, is now an open season up for grabs under Edward. Hell, it took UK Vogue years, I mean YEARS, to recognize Beyonce, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. And I get it, its a good PR stunt for US celebs to get a UK cover because it increases their exposure and clout. Why bother with a US cover when you already have that market in the bag.

This fact just goes to show how commercialized UK Vogue has become. I don't see it as a triumph, its rather tragic imo.

If Edward does indeed get the US Vogue editorship, I'm out. Not that it matters.

With regard to the VP gossip, it has to be Gisele no? They must have been shocked about the latest US Vogue cover and decided to push it back. Also its a good move, since Gisele really sells for them. Gisele + September is a win win for VP's numbers.

but I'm sure he's gutted over Meisel's growing absence.

This one's very likely Benn. Its very obvious that his covers try and emulate Meisel's work to give readers some sense of normalcy.

don't forget that Madonna will have a VI cover by M&M, not Meisel... He's rumored to shot her next album, but not a cover. Not cool if Steven only have a cover this year. He was the soul of VI for over 28 years. Now I get why his last ed before Farneti was named 'Buy, bye'. It was his last as a main.

Beyonce has definitely been shot for US Vogue, I'm not sure what month it was for but would she accept anything less than September?

There is no way she would accept anything but Sept. Also full approval. You want Beyonce? You play by her rules. She really is not thirsty for covers unlike some.....she will walk out on a deal if it doesn't suit her.

Actually now that I think of it, Gaga COULD get October. The magazine will be released around the 15th of Sept if that's the case, providing enough anticipation before the Oct 4 film release.

And Edward teased Alek some time back. Could be her on UK Vogue's September cover. Or Jourdan, or Naomi. Alek please! By Meisel.

I was hoping it might be Alek Wek as well. Or actually all three of them together would be nice. Three different generations of black models on the cover.

I mean UK Vogue September I'm hoping is Alek or some other great model deserving of the cover. But in all honesty, I think it will be Naomi. She's had an incredible year so far with the CFDA's and such. September would be EPIC. Remember Naomi also scored Anna Wintours first September vogue back in 1989. So this could be a call back to that maybe...

Maybe it’s for the August issue celebrating her birthday.

Why does the first part sound like Beyonce? With her busy schedule recently she would pull something like that, but she already shot for US Vogue.

Personally i feel that Naomi just isn't relevant to have on the cover.
I hate to say it (again!) but a magazine HAS to sell, and i dont think the great general public like her enough to go and buy a magazine with her on the cover.
This isn't a race issue. Its a likability issue...

Pretty sure US Vogue September is Beyoncé, October is Lady Gaga.

May the best edition win then. UK and US covers for Beyoncé in a year is overexposure. Not a great idea for me tbh.

Although, let’s be honest, whoever gets Beyoncé first wins. Regadless of execution.

Well, it has been proven that September sells itself so whoever appears on the cover is not going to make that big of a difference. And if Naomi isn't relevant for a British fashion cover, who is? Does that mean magazines should only feature inoffensive, well liked people without taking any risks?

True! That's after all why Alexandra brought her Rihanna cover forward. She knew the first one will get the majority of the sales.

if Gaga and Beyoncé share a cover would be explossive! Anna should try that, two stars in the same pic :)
