Gemma Ward is in Thailand shooting something and received lots of gifts from a Vogue team on her Instagram story. Couldn't make out the edition but I'm assuming it's Vogue Thailand or Australia.

Why do you think this way? She and Edward are besties and she has a role now as editor at British Vogue + has already graced the cover many times so it would make sense she gets another cover for British Vogue actually.

I'm really interested as to why people think this, it's come up a few times now in this thread and I don't really understand it. Naomi is a legendary supermodel, one of the most famous British models ever and she's good friends with Edward. I assumed that the reason she hasn't covered yet is because Edward was waiting for a special occasion, like September or his 1st year anniversary. I know people have cited her representation in the UK press as a reason for her lack of appearances, but I personally don't recall seeing anything particularly bad about her in years, and certainly no worse than many of the other celebrities who grace the cover.

To me Naomi was noticeably absent from Alexandra's Vogue, although I understand that was more to do with her attitude and tardiness. I would understand her absence if she continued with that behaviour, but I just don't see her pulling the same diva schtick with Edward in charge. If they think Naomi's name has enough clout as a Contributing Editor to attract readers, they surely think she could shift a few copies with her face on the front? Similarly, if they're willing to work with her as a contributor then they must have faith she'd behave herself at a cover shoot? I don't know, maybe I'm totally wrong, but to me Naomi makes perfect sense as a cover model for Edward's Vogue.

Magazines have to sell. Vogue isn't a small indie title that only has to sell a few copies that everyone works on for free for their portfolios, Its a business. Its the flagship UK Conde tite. Vogue has to sell. The great general public dont like Naomi. She isn't likeable. Its as simple as that. She has a reputation.
Put her with someone younger and more relevant, yes. But solo, i very much doubt it.
Why choose Naomi when you can pick and choose anyone right now to be on your cover?

(and yes i know she is on the cover of GQ this month. One of 20? how many have they printed i wonder. When they did One Direction they printed 80% Harry, 5% each of the others)

She isn't a contributing editor to attract readers. Shes there for the industry and to add glamour to less glamorous people. It brings them into Vogues world.

Indeed, in a world of #MeToo and people pushing back against abuse of all kinds, editors have to be careful who they choose to put on the cover, and what sort of values they have come to represent to the public. Pair Naomi with someone else, and you shift the emphasis from her story to a much wider and more positive picture.

I agree with most of the above. She has a really bad reputation with Vogue and whilst a lot of the team has swapped over, the powers that be will very much have kept that in mind. She has cost them money. She’s only a contributing editor to act as kudos in getting the interviews with people and her own connections. I also do not believe a bestselling issue lies with her fronting it.

This thread is so eager to her to cover the edition, maybe his second issue, maybe the Christmas issue, maybe the anniversary issue... this could go on a long, long time.

Aesthetically I have no issue with Naomi on the cover, she can of course take strong imagery, but do I have any interest in buying something because she’s on the cover? No. That’s why Kate appeared SO much in Alexandra’s day. She delivered the image and she delivered the sales to back that up. The readers liked her, wanted to emulate her style, wanted to be part of that Kate bubble. Naomi doesn’t have that with the public.

All that being said, I’m sure she’ll appear at some point, but I’m not confident she’ll be alone.

My thoughts too! I would say it's a Vogue Thailand cover story, their editor loves putting established models of Gemma's calibre on the cover and has also been known to shoot them actually in Thailand.

Lady Gaga is looking gorgeous on the cover of US Vogue, should be released soon. No idea if it's really I&V who shot her, but she got 100% photo approval. Wtf is going on over there at Wintour's Vogue?! Do your job! Once upon a time celebs would kill for the throaway month cover, now they all after Edward's Vogue (ask Gaga's people how hard they wanted that October cover that went to VB and her kids). But it sure makes you look even more desperate when you start giving coverstars all control just to secure them! Smh!

If I were Anna I would have made everything possible to have Gaga wear a look from Hedi's future debut at Celine, on the cover. Now that would be a true fashion moment !

As for Emily Blunt, it's about time. She's such a gem and so damn talented. Her performance in A Quiet Place was definitely one of the best of the year.
She'll be promoting Mary Poppins for her cover. So does that mean she'll get the November cover or a themed December shoot ?
