been doing some more sewing since i was bored:ninja:

i customised my cropped military style jacket into something i would probably wear more now!

i shortened it to about waist height which didnt take much off! and added some pleats to the bottom to make it longer and give it some shape and interest^_^

the two fabric match quite well and i love the shape of the jacket now.

theres also a picture of how i wanted it to look like.

I'm not positive this is the right thread for me to ask this, but where can I find information on distressing/thinning t-shirts (a white cotton one, for instance)? I'm trying to think of a way to make it sheer and worn-in. Any testimonies? ^_^ Thanks

You could try tea staining. I'm not sure how to do it though as I've never tried it but I'm sure some other members know or you could try google.

the way to get a t shirt like that is to have a t that is 50 cotton and 50 poly...
then you stick it in an acid bath with burns away the cotton and leaves the poly...
i don't know that it can be done at home...:ermm:...

EIR-that looks great-reminds me of a Gaultier trench that i was just trying on...adorable...

Eir- ems that jacket is so fab .. your so creative .. kind of makes me wish i hadnt just thrown my millitery jackets out :(

I found some children's ballet slippers in a thrift store a while ago that I've made into purses by sewing on a zipper.

I'm pretty sure I have seen the idea somewhere but can't really recall... Margiela?:innocent:

you all are so creative! i love that purse and the military jacket.. i need to invest on a good sewing machine

You're all welcome!

...a Paul Arden quote somehow feels appropriate...

//Ideas are open knowledge. Don't claim ownership.

They're not your ideas anyway. They're someone elses. They are out there floating by on the ether.

You just have to put yourself in a frame of mind to pick them up//

it's a good quote angie...

i agree..i always share...
and i also give credit to those who inspire me...
because i am grateful to them...

it's a wonderful thing..

well, i just tried sandpapering (100% cotton) and it's working! i must say, though, my arm is getting pretty sore :p although it's worth it. i can't stop feeling this softness.

i had a vanessa bruno dress shortened to above the knee...
it's SO much cuter now!...

:woot:...

I am just messin around with a t-shirt that has a girls face on it... I handstitched some gold thread on her eyebrows, etc.. It's just a work in progress

^ Wow it sounds really cute! Please post a pic for us to see when you are done :)

i've sprayed 2 pairs of old faded jeans, with black paint spray, they became dark blue, the denim structure remained, they got some wax touch [but not much harder], and they are surprisingly not self-painted looking. wearing them all the time now:)

^really? what kind of paint? acryllic or house paint?
i been wanting to make some of my jeans look darker since they are fading...and i dont like faded jeans..ugh
