Daily Exercise

track... more social than exercise, but it still counts, because i was moving...

and now i'm in my living room, doing some standing exercises as i type...

ran 2 miles, walked 2 miles, did abs and lots of squats...now i'm off to do pilates before bed!

Undressing and Dressing - 40 calories in 25 min
Washing - taking shower - 72 calories in 45 min
Talking or Talking on Phone – standing - 6 calories in 4 minStanding - talking or talking on phone - 36 calories in 25 min
Lying – sleeping - 551 calories in 12 hr 45 min
Hairstyling - self care - 60 calories in 30 min
Brushing Teeth - 5 calories in 3 min
Walking - 3.5 mph - 91 calories in 30 min
Swimming - general (leisure, not laps) - 624 calories in 2 hr 10 min

I've decided to start training for a marathon, but I'm not really sure how to do this...any ideas? I have been a pretty good runner - esp long distance but the furthest I have raced is a 10k. I am way out of shape recently and trying to get back to where I was when I was competing...such a slow road. Anyway, once I get back to general shape, any ideas on how to train for a marathon?

Hi Tiamaria,

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I'm just worried about you. You just seem to be overly concerned about calorie burning. I mean you count the calories you burn while brushing your teeth.. take it easy hon!! :)

oh no i didnt realise i posted all that, that was just for me oopsey oh well its to late to edit now. It was just this website that calculates how many calories you burn its really good, i just accedently copyed it all, i only wanted to copy the bottom bit .
thanks for your concern, but theres really nothing to be concerned about.

this morning - 45 min of running and some arm stuff w/ dumbbells and a medicine ball...tonight walking and pilates!

I recommend Jeff Galloway's training books. check them out on Amazon...a marathon is definitely something you need to train properly for, but too much to post here:flower:

good luck, and i recommend doing yoga on your non-running days!

Grr i wish i was like every1 else!!! im 13,and i feel really fat and think im fat.The excercises i do are-

40 crunches
40sit ups
running up and down the stairs as many times as poss
arm pull down weights on my bros gym
leg weights .

I wish i could do all that you do!!!I really want to join a gym but you have to be 14(im 14 in september tho-so it isnt that bad) but i just feel like i want to do everything right now!! all these excercises and stuff. Also im hopefully getting 1 of those dance dvd workouts soon,i dont know which one to get though, the eric prydz workout video which some1 mentioned,or the coronation girls dance workout dvd.Does anyone know both of them and know which 1 is better ??

1 last thing... i weigh 119lb (24kilos) and i want to get down to about 100lb (46kilos),so has anyone got the perfect workout i should do to help me loose the weight and tone up my body and about how long would it take to actually show???i really want to get fit (i want my belly button pierced but i want a nice toned up body b4 :innocent: ).i know you all might be thinking,oh shes only 13 shes got her whole life infront of her,but what i think is that if i start at this age,and get my body into nice shape now,i wont hopefully have many problems with it when im older,so please give me suggestions! any ideas would be just great!!! thanks

is any1 gonna reply to me??

Sure, I'll reply but you might not like what I have to say. At 119lbs, you're probably far from being fat, unless you're 4 feet tall. I think you worry about this too much and should take it easy, especially at your age. You're 13 and still growing. Don't eat less than you should or you might endanger your height and your reproductive system which is developing right now. Why don't you join a sports team at school? That should be enough exercise to keep you in shape and in good health. When I was 13 I didn't do any special exercises at home or at the gym. I was on the track team, basketball team and volleyball team so I was very active. Playing sports is also definitely more fun than running up the stairs! :)
I'm not saying don't workout, but don't be too obsessed with your weight. It's not healthy. Focus on school and being generally healthy :) :flower:

always great advice! :) I <3 daily exercise, but I really miss team sports. It's so much more fun to work out with a pack of 20 people -- not only do you motivate each other (almost as winningly as fashionbébé!), you take your mind off the grueling work... It's easy to get lazy on your own, I find. Plus, I can get to yoga 3x a week no problem. I need a buddy to walk me through the doors of the athletic center... Once I'm there, elliptical for 30, weights for an hour.5 and mat for abs, baby. ^^

My gym buddy and I have had a great time with this ab exercise I'd never done before...
Girl working her abs: lie down on the ground!
Helpful buddy: Stand behind your prone friend's head and allow her to hold on to your ankles
Girl working her abs: Grab those ankles and stick your legs up at a 90 degree angle from the floor...
Helpful buddy: Grab those feet and toss them any which way. Ab girl should work to get them back into start position -- don't cheat and bend your legs tho. :D

It's fun to flop around on the mat.. XD

I didn't get to the gym today since I actually started feeling exam stress and wanted to get rid of it by studying!
Yesterday I did 30 mins on elliptical and 20 minutes on weights/abs. Pretty pathetic I know but I can't afford to spend 1.5-2 hours at the gym this close to exams.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully make it to the gym before class and also take a walk to the bank.
