Daily Exercise

^ I totally have that issue, my 8 to 5 makes me mentally pooped!
But something I have noticed, the hardest thing about it is getting up to go to the gym.
Force yourself to do it like 2 or 3 times a week. You will notice a blast of energy, and then you can increase (or maintain) your # of visits...

I dont belong to a gym, I used taebo dvd's. So Im even more pathetic that Im too lazy to put it in the dvd player! I need to do it as soon as I walk in..once I sit down and veg with the tv....FORGET IT!

How do you guys stay motivated to work out? I work all day, then when I come home, Im pooped. I CANT get up early in the morning to it, not gonna happen, so evening is the only option....Any thoughts or helpful hints???

I think it's either your thing or it's not... like personally i HATE missing going to the gym, I actually really enjoy it / look forwards to getting to my workout. When i'm having a real dull day thats what I think about to pass time...

i work out because i don't want to get injured (more often than i already do) on the field. plus, it helps me perform better. and the byproduct is that i think it makes me look fabulous. ;) i guess for me, i have a goal that helps me go past the fatigue and fit it into my schedule. i know that the better i can perform (as a result of working out), the better i feel about myself. that's partly why i do it. so, i'd suggest that you find a goal that is important enough to you and then go for it!

oops, ETA: biked for 20-25mins to the boy's house. got a ride to practice, where i stood around in the pouring rain because my knee is still too sore to risk doing anything. (i was thisssss close to doing my ACL this weekend. eeeeek!)

Hmm, i try to bike everyother day for half an hour (although i go really fast, think of casually walking the same distance in 1.5 hrs), then i do this yoga thing where you lie on your back, put your legs to your chest, squeeze tight to your chest and bring your head to your knees as tight as possible, hold for 10 seconds, then repeat. it works really good on your abs, burns fat just like that. then today i did a bit of skipping rope, although i dont usually do it. but yup, thats it i guess, im not the most fit person ever...

yesterday:

1 mile run (around 6 min w/ hills :woot: )
about 25 min aerobics and plyometrics in my living room... practicing teaching on my own
1 hr yoga + some crunches

 i cant exercise much at the moment as there is too much wrong with my body... so i did a light 16 push ups, 16 sit ups and 20 squats... i cant wait to be well enough to sweat it out in a step class :ermm:

40 min run
2 hr cheerleading :x
20 min abs
20 min taebo
40 min aerobics
60 min lifting/stretch
20 min elliptical

grand total: almost 5 hours if you include dancing in the living room to a britney dvd

that is awesome... inspiring too ... keep at it :D

Today i ran/walked with a friend for 1.5 hr and did some semi-vigorous but extremely sweaty (it's HUMID here) ashtanga yoga for 1.5 hr. I also did 20 min abs..... I was going to run hills but i'm pretty tired.

A question about the Elliptical. Decide to post here instead of the Elliptical thread, since this thread commands more traffic.

I've always lifted my heel just a teeny weeny bit, of the foot that goes up with the pedal. I tried today without removing my foot *at all* from the pedal, and boy, it was a great, great workout for my thighs, but very difficult to maintain. So, for anyone who has a professional trainer's advice before, how do you exactly use the elliptical? Is it ok to lift the heel a little?

I find it necessary to lift the heel a bit.. I know what you're talking about... I think that's the preference of most. Men seem to keep their heels down more (?!?!)

Yesterday:
30 min warmup stretch for cross country
3 mile repeats ( 1 mile at race pace, rest, 1 mile at race pace, rest, 1 mile at race pace)
1.5 mile run/walk cooldown
5 min Walk
30 min Lift Upper Body
20 min Abs
10 min Jog
20 min Stationary Bike

Today:

1 hr on the treadmill (6 miles at 6 MPH)
45 min lifting, abs, stretch
12 min stationary bike
1hr 10 min walk

It looks like I did so much yesterday.. when I really just did a whole ton of stuff for small amounts of time  :innocent:

^oh man, i hate mile repeats.

but waht did i do....went hiking for an hour, 35 minute jog. thats it.

Approximately twelve mile (!) hike/run yesterday with cross country team. When I thought of all the calories I must have burned, I ate something like half of a cheesecake.
