Dasha Zhukova

it's a shame she left too soon to prove the detractors wrong...or right, and all of the general bitchy comments.
Personally, I thought the issues put out under her were not bad at all...

A flighty socialite without the work ethic to carry through with a job she committed herself to?

STOP THE PRESSES!

^ Completely disagree, nearly everything she has involved herself with has garnered some measure of success. Not because of her but who she surrounds herself with, which she herself, readily, admits. Though I admit she does seem a bit flighty.

I loved the direction POP was going under her and hopefully most of the people she conglomerated stay there. I would love for Shala Monroque to be the new chief.

Perhaps she wants to stay home with her kid but that doesn't seem likely.Maybe there is some rumbling about that we don't know of that made her leave or maybe she's just flighty.

Guess I was wrong.

Dasha Zhukova has resigned from Pop after becoming editor-in-chief of the magazine less than two years ago, as the surprise and scoffed-at replacement for styling wizard Katie Grand. Zhukova is going on to where lots of departing magazine editors go: somewhere digital! A Pop spokesman said Zhukova is leaving to work on "independent digital publishing projects in the arts." Pop editorial director Ashley Heath will replace Zhukova, whose final issue, the spokesman gloated, had twice as many advertisers and almost three times the ad pages than the issues Katie Grand produced. If there was anything to be gleaned from that New Yorker profile of her, it is that she's certainly well connected.

I personally loved her for POP. :( I'm saddened by her resignation since the last issue was absolutely wonderful. Hopefully Heath won't let us down.

I wanted Shala too:doh::(:doh:
On the other hand, Ashley Heath is definitely the most experienced for the job.
So basically, Dasha left to start a brand new Art magazine. Isn't it what she did at POP in a certain way ?? I mean the magazine under her was so much more than a fashion magazine it had a very solid Art direction. Shame that she lives so early...

how was the magazine with her??

it was better than under katie grand tbh (i'm being biased becausei 'm not the biggest fan of grand's, i particularly hate LOVE)

it was very art led, a lot of in depth articles but the shoots were still gorgeous...one of my favourite mags tbh

Dasha Zhukova resigns as editor-in-chief of Pop magazine

The Russian beauty, Dasha Zhukova, steps down as editor-in-chief of Pop magazine to focus on independent digital publishing projects.

Confirming the rumours which have been swirling around Planet Fashion for the last few days, it was announced late yesterday that Dasha Zhukova, the stunning Russian beauty, philanthropist and entrepreneur, has resigned as the editor-in-chief of Pop Magazine.

Ms Zhukova, 29, is leaving to focus on independent digital publishing projects in the arts and is believed to be close to finalising her first new deal.

"My time at Pop has been a transformative experience that I am extremely proud of. It has afforded me the chance to collaborate with some of the greatest creative minds in the world and I'm thankful to Ashley Heath and Bauer Media for the opportunity," she said. "I'm now excited to move on and build something from the ground up."

Dasha Zhukova joined Pop in February, last year. Creating a nexus between the worlds of art and fashion, her editorship featured collaborative covers between Damien Hirst & Tavi Gevinson, Richard Prince & Abbey Lee and Takashi Murakami & Britney Spears.

The long-term girlfriend of Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea Football Club, Ms Zhukova gave birth to the couple's first child, a son, Aaron Alexander Abramovich, in December.

In addition to her work in publishing, fashion and the arts, Dasha Zhukova is the founder of the Iris Foundation - a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the understanding and development of contemporary culture throughout the world. In September 2008, through Iris, she launched the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow, which has grown into the city's most prominent venue showcasing modern and contemporary art.

I personally could care less. Under her, the magazine produced alright content. I just hope Ashley does a better job in making the magazine appealing again.

I don't think her departure will actually make a difference to the magazine. From what I can see, her strength lay in her ability to assemble a good team, and she made POP an 'arty' fashion magazine which didn't look too bad- but I missed the irreverence of Katie Grand's editions (not that I'm a fan, LOVE somehow just doesn't have the spark that Grand-era POP had, despite its best efforts to recreate it).

'Twice as many advertisers and almost three times the ad pages than the issues Katie Grand produced.'

Interesting that this should be celebrated as Zhukova's greatest achievement, though I suppose that's what survival looks like for a magazine.

Between juggling family and so many other parallel projects, Dasha (even Superwoman!) had to drop one of her balls. I like the direction POP has taken under her but suspect - as others have voiced here - that it is more a comment on the talent she surrounds herself with.

Well I am seriously mourning this. I don't care for her personality or personal life, I think every issue she put out was superior to anything most magazines achieve month after month.. even better than most biannual publications actually.. I guess I could resent her lack of commitment but then she did seem to have a very busy life (regardless of what she did or didn't do) prior to taking the reigns of POP so it's understandable, she did what she could and much better than other more experienced, 'committed' figures in the industry would given the chance .. so.. great work, and I hope that once she's less busy () she takes on another fashion challenge like POP was after Grand's disastrous last issues and departure.
