Very very nice ! Thank you Flashbang !!

vogue.itThe only model representing the recent Calvin Klein menswear advertising campaign, he has been working with some interesting photographers yet. David is a real breakout
No one can imagine the excitement I had to contain when I received the Ok to interview my first guy for New Faces. You can't, because it was "a coup." I was determined to introduce upcoming male models that I am inspired by and I knew right away who I had in mind for the first, it was going to be David Agbodji.
He has accomplished what seems like an impossible feat. The only model representing the recent Calvin Klein menswear advertising campaign. Not one season, but now the second season as well. I give the designer, Italo Zucchelli, a lot of credit, making a real statement. So nice they are doing it twice and by fame photographer Steven Klein. It was brilliant the first time in black and white.
I cannot wait to see the new ad. No doubt I am very proud. Diversity, diversity... I met David when I had the opportunity to cast him in the Sean John 10th anniversary menswear fashion show. All the male models were black and they were great. I was in heaven casting that show. It's nice to see 3 years later that David has a career in modeling (for now).
Born in Paris, his parents are from Togo, but he was raised mostly in Moscow, Russia (I know, that's real different). He has spent the last 10 years in New York, so he has this "little bit of this, a little bit of that, accent." David has been working with some interesting photographers from Klein to Terry Richardson, and in the pages of Interview Mag., French Vogue, German GQ, Surface, etc. and designer shows, Louis Vuitton, Rick Owens, and being exclusive for Calvin Klein...appearing as the first and last exit.
For those who don't know, that is major. In a climate of international fashion that is monopolized by nondescript white boys, David is a breakout. He may not look like Tyson Beckford, but the journey is familiar and he has the same charisma and charm. I am never one to predict a model's career, I just get behind them when I believe in what I see. Check David out in the latest J.Crew catalog.
He is channeling someone, and looking wonderful, photographed by Matthew Brooks. I do think the CK menswear designer, Italo, connects to David the way Ralph Lauren connected to Tyson. Still no predictions here just an observation, from someone that still has an eye for model talent.
