David Lachapelle - Photographer

There's a brief in Vanity Fair (Sept) about a documentary about the KRUMPING subculture that grabbed headlinses at Sundance. It's about dance-offs instead of gang wars. Something he discovered when shooting Xtinas "dirrty" video.
While I like his bizarre imagery and use of intense colours, I do agree that fashion editorials have definitely moved on. I enjoy seeing his work with celebrities a lot more.

i just adore some of his photos...but then he keeps repeating himslf over and over again which crosses the line between havng a style and not repeating yourself...

i really really appreciate some of david's stuff. it has an amazing visceral, cartoonish absurdity that is a breath of fresh air! some of it seems in bad taste, yes, but to me that is ok because it balances out the really great images.

I like some of his vids and there are some of his fashion shots which are mesmerizing - even if no one can hold a candle to Bourdin - who is the best photographer everrrr.

These are LaChapella pix from the face 1994.

^ i agree bourdin set the stage, but i doubt david lachapelle was ever as sadistic as bourdin. also, it is nice to see perversity face/ value or tongue and cheek...delivered w/ some humor.
