The majority of male fashion designers are certainly homosexual, which, paradoxically, reinforces the glass ceiling where women are concerned in the fashion business as more than a few gay designers are committed misogynists. someone was wondering about helmut lang previously: he's definitely gay. doesn't anybody look at advertising etc when wondering about these designers' sexual orientation? in helmut's case he used to use robert mapplethorpe´s archive photos in his collection ads...which makes the message pretty clear, non? nowadays helmut's creating rather homoerotic art and farming chicken at his long island estate with his partner of many years. even, if a designer has a distinctly "gay" aesthetics (Helmut, Hedi...), it doesn't necessarily mean the tackiness of the Caten twins, Galliano menswear or D&G...
