Designers fight having their clothes on the "wrong" celebs

^ Uhm, yeah. Ed Hardy probably gives Chris Knight (of the original Brady Bunch) free stuff, he's always in Hardy...He's C-List with a capital C.

I dont blame them, I would be mortified to see my top plastered across Posh's plastic chest, Id call the police. Assault w/ poor taste.

My general rule is, as soon as the tourists or WAGs pickup on a brand or trend, it's dead.

Imagine if Posh weren't rich how cheap she'd look. I mean she spends thousands on looking that cheap already.

Diorling your hilarious Chris Knight haha Your right on Point Tourist or ppl that have that lame look pickup on trends its dead a good point Paddington Bags

I remember an episode of the Gilmore Girls, when Logan buys Rory a Birkin Bag, then Emily (her grandmother for those who don't watch, a very wealthy lady with too much money for her own good) starts protesting, "he bought you a birkin bag? You hear that Richard? He bought her a BIRKIN BAG! I've always wanted a Birkin bag...I can't believe you have a BIRKIN bag!"

I had no idea what a Birkin bag was until I read this thread XD

no one can be more wrong than the kardashian jenners.

To the people back from 2006...wait till you see the celebrities from 2023!! 😅 😅 😅

^ Their most devoted fans don't think about them half as much as you do, girl. Give it a rest!
how can i when the fashion stooges make sure they are featured everywhere, for 20 years now.

I mean you should become a fashion stooge and change that then.

That's because the industry NEEDS people like the Kardashians/Jenners. They're high visibility people who make for maximum exposure, whether for better or worse.

The Kardashians are NOT beneath Vogue or Meisel or Wintour. A vapid industry needs an equally vapid representative.

That is objectively not true. The Kardashians are not necessary at all, just like giving out celebrity handouts and press favors is not necessary at all.

Vogue is a historic institution and Meisel is an artist and the kardashian jenners with their sears clothing and failing dash boutique and bebe clothes are most definitely below the fashion industry.

The taste level is different, yes, but they both play the exact same game. Generating revenue by selling fantasies to the thirsty 98%. A partnership between the two makes complete sense. Otherwise, Anna Wintour and major luxury brands wouldn't have stooped to it to begin with. The proof is in the pudding.

What is the pudding?? how many sales has Kim Kardashian generated?? how much did her Vogue covers sold? Everyone plays the same game of generating revenue but not everyone is going to partner with a manure selling company just because they generate revenue. Wintour won't even mention first lady Melania Trump in her magazine but gleefully embraced manure with Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.

Well, I don't blame fashion designers if they're freaked out that Vic Beckham is wearing their stuff.

The world has changed immensely, she literally joined the same table that didnt want her sitting there and even pulls some shots. The kind of revenge I like, elitism is boring and old fashioned. Most of those 'tasteful' billionaire wives and aristocrats are way more scandalous than some of the people that are frowned upon.

she's always been a loser groveling for acceptance.

You're kidding right? A "manure selling company" doesn't sell a fantasy or grab eyeballs. What an irrelevant comparison.
Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are social media juggernauts. And Vogue needs that kind of attention to survive.

The Melania Trump comment is laughable. She's the useless first lady to America's most hated Republican president. Liberal Hollywood and urban Democrats would cancel Vogue into oblivion if Vogue even LOOKED in Melania's direction. Anna Wintour literally blacklisted Ann Romney back in 2012. The Kardashians are a walk in the park, by comparison.

You're forgetting that the fashion industry is frivolous by nature, no matter how "historic" you think it is. They answer to the whims, fantasies, and insecurities, of the public. Just like the Kardashians. Yes, Vogue SOLD OUT. But it doesn't matter because people will continue to worship them. Money talks etc etc

Speak for yourself sweetie. If you are a superficial person that continues to worship sell outs, that's you, but that's not everybody. The social media juggernauts category is your perception. I would love to see the sales figures of how many had sales the kardashian juggernauts brought to Vogue. Your obliviousness is laughable. America's most hated republican president got 80 million hard votes, if the most popular first lady since jackie o was put on the cover of vogue it would sell more than what michelle obama did and certainly what jill biden sold, just like every cover story trump got on vanity fair sold big numbers.

That dumb frivolity you hail is what has the fashion industry completely disconnected from everyone and has the fashion magazines shrinking day by day and i love it. Love to see them fail and be relegated to the dust bin of history because that is where they are going.

Print sales dont matter especially if you compare them to the reach of the new insta celebrities. Kim Kardashian has 364m followers, her on a Vogue cover will at least reach 100m or more of those and that's not including all the fan pages dedicated to her and her family and all her 'haters' that will discuss that cover for months, Melania Trump has 1.8m followers many of whom hate Vogue and what it stands for so Anna wont really get repeat customers from many of them but the backlash from having her on the cover would be much worse. Print fashion is a business, a struggling business at that that's why they have to change with the tide whether people like it or not. Having industry insiders or beloved models on the cover wont move copies or sell ads meaning there wont be money to pay salaries.

Don't bother trying to explain. I've seen this kind of delusion in fashion audiences all the time.

To whom do you refer, and can you back that up with facts?

I don't think Anna is afraid of being canceled, I think she's expressing a POV.

Melania Trump of course! it's a disgrace that Anna "Stooge" Wintour wouldn't give Melania a cover if anything for just being the only first lady that actually has a background in the fashion industry.
