Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

Why are they leaving? Did Jil not sell well under their tenure?
I can only speak on behalf of the market region work in & given the duration they’ve been here when I say no. They opened their store mid-last year I want to say & can count how many shopping bags I’ve seen. Store is constantly a ghost town. HUGE turnover.

Also the prices are diabolical. Realistically even an affluent customer would break the bank by buying one of their bags. A t-shirt with JS logo is like 400$?? Crazy. Of course they aren’t selling

You’re not wrong!! I remember cruising their store & this exact denim shirt caught my eye & was floored when I saw the price.

It's crazy that these corporate types don't understand the simple fact that increasing prices so dramatically is destined to fail, regardless of how famous and "of the moment" their designers are.

There are great talents working in the industry right now, but they are not supported in the way they should be.

Daniel Lee and the Meier's are a perfect example of that. These brands (Burberry and Jil Sander) could be thriving and generating much more revenue, if only their prices were slightly more reasonable. Getting another "star" designer or someone with a great resume is not going to do much if the prices don't come back down to reality.

Simone Bellotti is a bad choice for a brand like Jil Sander. He has no cultural cache in the way that the Meier's did, who came from OAMC/Supreme and Dior/Louis Vuitton/Balenciaga by Ghesquiere respectively. If he really is going to Jil, this brand will fade into oblivion.

I actually think that what is selling the most at Jil Sander is the logo stuff and the more simple offering.
As it is a fashion brand, I guess Rosso expected clothes to perform.

Even if Jil Sander and Marni have totally alienated their historic clientele, the success of Margiela, which is in the same price point for the most part proves that people are willing to spend.

Yes Margiela has the tabis and GAT as cashcow but what Jil has?

When quiet luxury is a trend and pushing a brand like The Row, instead of Jil Sander, at the pinnacle of hype, you know something isn’t right.
And their farewell collection was the proof. You need a strong show to move merch in stores…

I liked some of their collections. I feel like the collections started to deteriorate once they were acquired by OTB, and also the fabrics looking of lesser quality once that happened. They had a really close, tight nit team at JS so it was an emotional goodbye for them. They seem like a cool/nice couple, wishing them the best with whatever they do ✨

They also have a terrible reputation... I won't say how they're allegedly called internally within the company but it is NOT NICE... Good riddance, I hope Jil Sander goes back to being a brand that gives you a proper vestiaire, and not an overly fashion thing.

Also a trench coat that’s almost 3000 bucks is WILD. Wild I’m telling you!

Lmao that video with Luke and Renzo is the best thing that has happened to fashion in some years  most uncomfortable video ever 😂
You can tell he was fighting intrusive thoughts about hitting him with that bouquet idk

I thought that was very well known unfortunately :(((
