From what I was told, a few Europeans were actually in the process for PS. But eventually, the brand is somehow "so linked to the NYC vibe" (not my quote) that they went for a profile who really had their feet in NYC already.

i know of one person was from a european brand behind the scene that was in the run with a nice resume.

they missed the mark as someone form NYC can bring a new fresh eye , and NYC is also about outsiders coming in the city and starting new.

but good luck to their efforts i see the brand be even smaller than it already is , and sold of at one point to squeeze out department store merch

I think it works because the founder is still there and overseeing things. He is not likely retiring and I don’t expect drastic change. Therefore there’s no need for a « designer coming to a brand to write their story ».

However, when he decides to retire, I expect from Christian to leave his house on the hands of a trained footwear designer.

He is a CD of a department at afootwear brand with the owner and creator being at the helm. The future or responsibility of Christian Louboutin is hardly on his hand. The announcement is more sensationalist than what it is in reality.

Even when we are talking about campaigns and all, Christian has his one show he always does, presentations during FW and social media campaigns.

I almost wonder if anyone will in fact notice dramatic change.

I think we have a lot of great talents dead or alive who did not study fashion at all and it is fine.

This nomination is more marketing/PR related than anything else. No reason to take it so seriously.
