Difficult Designer / Brand Pronunciation

I have a couple of dumb questions...

Is the "a" in Raf and Sander pronounced like raft or like wall? "Raff" doesn't help me...

Raf is either pronounced like rough or like Ralph (minus the L).
Sander is pronounced like Sunder.

Ooooohhhh...

:innocent: Didn't know this tread exsisted. Thank god. It will save many of us from possible embarassment!

Do you say Chloè and pronounce the accent on the e, making it like Chlo-ay or do you say the e hard making it just regular Chloe?

Yigal Azrouel:
Yee-gal As-roo-elle

Kris Van Assche:
Kris (pretty straightforward) Van (ditto) Ash

Chloe
Klo (as in close)-ey (as in key)

Agnes B.

Apparently the g in Agnes B. is silent so it's pronounced anes b - and the b is pronounced bay. Totally ridiculous - some affected wanna be corrected me once on this but I can't seem to say it that way without sounding like an ***.

It's Anne yes (like Anne and yes )
And B is pronounced like the be- of better not like bay.

Guess, based on French lessons in the ditant past:

Dor is easy

meu is like the mer in mercy, but no R sound

il is just ee (the l is silent)

and the last two are elided

prounciation

evan-picone?

evan like the boy's name.... and then pee-cone or is it pee-con... do you pronounce the 'e'?

Tsubi. Is it Soo-bee? I've heard people say Tsoo-bee, with a little of the 't.'

OH. And I feel so ashamed to ask this. Chanel 2.55. Do you say "Chanel two point five five" or "Chanel two fifty five?!" Some people say it with the "point," but some say "fifty-five?" It's driving me nuts.

I'd say Soo-bee,
and Chanel two fifty five (thats what my friend says, she's a Chanel FREAK!)

okay, my friend told me about this one. "Osh Gosh Bigosh"

I can help you on this one since I'm French. It is pronounced air_mess because Hermés is a Greek name. He was a Greek deity ( the son of Zeus and Maia and the messenger of the gods) :flower:

You dont pronounce the "s" on some names (like in Degas), but yeah .. this is a greek word and I read somewhere that the people from the Hermes stores in the US pronounce it with the "s" so ... that's how I'd pronounce it.

On another note ... if my memory doesnt fail ... Hermes is the God of the thieves as well .. :p

PS. This info makes me want to make a graphic tee that reads "Hermes: I can pronounce it AND afforf it" so bad! :p:lol:

Intersting thread...can we add some model names? How would I say Emina Cunmulaj? And Tanya Dziahileva?

Cunning thieves to be precise! Also of liars. It is a Greek word, but the French often Gallicise Classical languages, as in Phaedra becoming 'Phedre', in the famous play of the same name.

poochie the rockin' dog

my last name is Pucci and it is so irritating to have people mispronounce it. I don't understand how people could not know, i mean, if you don't know Pucci at least you might know Gucci! it rhymes, people!

Poochie is the correct way.

p*ssy is my least favorite, but poosee is most common
