Difficult Designer / Brand Pronunciation

another one is louis vuitton.
the real serious fashionistas say it
"loo-wee Vwee-tahn"
i'm just like who cares.
i'll call it "lewis Vitone" if i want to.

I grew up in small town Texas, If I can figure out how to say it right, no one has an excuse. It's pretty aweful to be around someone who doesn't even know Chanel. I agree though that there are different pronounciations.

if anyone caares to check the beginning of the thread..
a number of industry professionals gave the CORRECT information...

and someone even posted a LINK to a site where you can listen to an actual AUDIO recording of most designer names...

What about Krizia? I thought it was pronounced Kreet-zee-ah, but noones talking about Krizia anyway.

Is that how you pronounce Loewe? It just seems...wrong, how can you get soo many sounds out of L-o-e-w-e, isn't Loewe French?

I always thought Proenza- Schouler was ..skou-lur..lol

I have a hard time pronouncing all the designers actually, I think I have it right but I dont

like Balenciaga i used to say Bah-len-ceeee-ahh-gahh. ahaha

Pls help me Obi Wan! I'm new here, so not going to kick off a new thread - please, how do you pronounce Miu Miu?

I went to school w/a girl who was called Miuchi (Japanese tho) and she was Mee-oo, I hear opinions vary, I am thick and ready to be told off but the pronunciation thread that brought me here via Google, no longer exists... so please help!

Cheers, Schmoo xxxx:flower:

i took italian and asked my teacher this actually (and the correct pronounciation of muiccia, ms. prada's first name) muiccia = "Mu-eek-ki-a" and she said miu miu would be "mi-u-mi-u"

I'm pretty sure for most of us it's Bah-len-see-aga. The reason it sounds different in Spanish is cause in spoken spanish the letter C is normally pronounced as a "Th" sound.

I would have thought Mee-ooo-chee-ah (only fast and strung together)

french is my native language so when i heard english people trying to say the french names I just find it hilarious haha.

That is incorrect. The spelling of her name is Miuccia (which is why Miu Miu is spelled the way it is), which accounts for one part of the way your teacher pronounced it, but...anyhow, I'm almost positive it's basically pronounced myoo-chee-uh. Miu Miu is pronounced myoo-myoo.

Also, for those wondering about Balenciaga, it's probably been discussed on just about every page of this thread, so you could just search a bit (which could also be said for most of the other names, as well). :flower:
