Difficult Designer / Brand Pronunciation

Well, I might have to correct Hermes.

It is not French I believe, it is Greek. In Greek Mythology, there are twelf gods/ goddess, Hermes is the god of making clothes. It is Her- mees.

BTW, I am not European, so I could be wrong, I am only saying according to English class.

Hermes has a phone number for customer service- if you call them, the hold recording prounces the brand name in the way I assume they intend for it to be pronounced

the way they said it was (to my ear) aehr- mehz

800 441 4488.

Thanks Odette for the Lanvin pronunciation. I have so much trouble with it. And though Hermes is in Greek mythology, I'm pretty sure that Hermés (aer-mez) is from a French family's last name. At least, that's what an SA told me...

Hahahah this is a weird one
: Lingerie- I used to pronounce it as: laund-er-eey. A girl in my years parents sell lingerie and i kept saying laundry and she got rle embaressed because people thought that. Then she corrected me.

It is French, in the same way that the Greek Phaedra becomes Phedre in French. You can tell because transliterated Greek omits the diacritic.
