Dior Homme F/W 06.07 Paris

I guess the fit and construction of the Chanel-inspired jacket will be similar to the boxy four button blazer from F/W 2005, it´s basically the same length as far as I remember. This jacket as well, cost less than a classic Dior blazer.

I´m gonna look through my images if I still have something else left to show you, in terms of knitwear, I remember somebody asking what was in the collection - It´s surprising how compact the collection was in the showroom, they had several takes on the striped bretonian sweater which I thought were beautiful, some of them having the wide boat neck as seen in the show (VERY Hedi Slimane at YSL) as well as some rough sweaters with leather button (small buttons covered in leather) fastening on one side of the collar. There was also a double breasted merino cardigan that I remember being on our order but apart from that, there´s honestly nothing else that I remember.

I´ve got to look through my books if I find the price of those twisted bow ties in there, I remember the simple black satin ones being around the same price as a tie, the big ones, I assume, should cost around 200 € if I´d have to guess.

There is a picture of it a page or two back. It is gray with black outlining. It was featured on the runway with the two tone jeans. I am really suprised at the price...less than 1000 euros is MUCH less than I would have expected.

Tricot...do you know the price pf any of the bow ties yet?

Ohh, I recall now. Thanks!

Tricot or anyone... price point (estimate even?) of the jacket in the third arena homme photo?

I can't tell about this last coat since I didn't even take it into consideration when we made our selection... :ninja:

It's odd cause I cannot remember that you could play with the collar, the way it's been styled for this editorial shot... I guess so, since the jacket doesn't have any expensive beadwork or any other gimmicks that would add to the pricepoint, that it costs slightly more than a classic tailored coat - somewhere in between 1400-1800 €, I guess.

Tricot, do you know if the "Chanel" jacket is going to have an all black variation or not?

Erm, I remember they were telling me about another colour combo, but I can't remember which one it was... They also didn't sample it so basically that's the reason why I can't tell how it might turn out...

jost i was thinking of purchasing the 5 button blazer from SS 06, but do you think i should save this money and hold out for a blazer from FW 06 like the chanel inspired one?

I didn't like the 5 button blazers from S/S 2006 to be perfectly honest with you, mainly because of the fabrics which I thought were a little too light for a boxy cut as this. There's been a very similar one in the winter before with fairly high lapels and four buttons which has a similar cut and structure which I much prefer if you asked me, because it's not rounded, it gives an emphasis on the boxy shape which I like, the ones from the summer I find fairly undecided.

I would definitely save up for winter, because the clothes will be really beautiful and worth spending some serious money on, maybe because they are less referential and obviously trendy but "designed", which makes them much more timeless for me than, say F/W 2005 and S/S 2006.

Ah...Jost, your assessment is helping to rekindle my hope for Dior's future.

^Mine too, the last two seasons left me gagging.

This collection is obviously of a masculine base, but a lot of the small details are too feminine for my tastes (the jacquard fabric mentioned previously, among other things), and I really don't like androgyn much at all...particularly pertaining to men.(Not that I care for the ultra-macho "look", either :yuk:) It doesn't work well, imo.

I really do love the "Chanel-esque" jacket, though, it doesn't particularly look very feminine to me.

Thankyou Jost and Alex for the pictures.

Same here. I'm not at a financially mature enough place in my life to fathom buying a substantial designer item but gosh darn I'll have to work two jobs this summer for that jacket!

Alrighty, here are as promised some pictures of the new collection in close-up. I allowed myself to pick out some of what I liked best. Like I said before, I really, really love this jacket, it´s quite a snug fit and then flares slightly on the hips, reinforced underneath like some old-fashioned couture piece... isn´t this very Christian Dior, á la New Look?

Where did you see it ?

FYI the leather cummerbund are something like 400 (350? or 450 can't remember)
They were featured on Cosmopolitan (not sure though)
I'm waiting for the price of the satin ones they are wonderful, and the cummerbund aren't used ofter in europe except in some restaurants, but i think it's quite nice
