Dior Homme F/W 07.08 Paris

URGH! It had best be getting better soon! I was expecting so much from him, and his last two season had been great! So far, this isn't a good show to top off an already bad season...

I'm more blown away by the black model than anything else. It's just not something I ever thought Hedi would be keen on propping on a pedastal.I'm happy I'm wrong.

Some of the clothes are good, some are bad. I am anxious to see more.

(good points for the black model, bad point that he is not handsome haha)

I think he's easily one of the best looking models Hedi has put on the catwalk. I'm really interested in what Acid's experience with the show has been like.

Same! I actually had to double check! I think he looks pretty good actually! Anyways, I am not so much a Dior Homme fan, but there are many things I could see myself wearing. It feels more pristine and clean than before and that is what I like. I cannot deal with the dirty like that. I definitely cannot wait to see more! :woot:

yea black men and yummy jackets!

It almost seems that maybe comments like the black model not being handsome is what perhaps, maybe keeps casting directors from really thinking about diversity as you rarely hear, 'oh my god, the white models this year, yukky!' Plopping one black man on a runway doesn't make it diverse, I think its used for shock value more than anything. I say go all the way or just keep it white, no need to flip flop (ahem, by the way, the jackets are really yummy this season!!!)

about all these changes mentioned (less Rock&Roll, not so emo, not so skinny)... does that mean hedi has moved on?is it really time for something radically different? is this just the beggining????'besides making me get paranoic, i'm quite enjoying this and i cant wait for all the pics to come out!

Since this doesn't look like your normal Dior Homme show with skinnyskinny leather pants, rockband stuff and uberemo-ism, I have to say I like it...
Couldnt agree more, its not 100% my style, neither is it 100% perfect, but personally, I like this more than the more emo whatever normal style, Its all looking good, looking forward to more, Im hoping there is smth small I like... :bounce:

I think we can all agree that the choice of models has to reflect the aesthetics of the house. Dior Homme is about 'skinny, white boys' and they suit the clothes perfectly. Of course, this doesn't mean that a non-skinny boy, a black boy or even a manly man can't wear it, which is proven by Dior's costumers and celebrities.

What's particularly difficult about commenting on the black guy in this show is the fact that it enters the race area, which is always subject to misunderstandings. I don't think Slimane should have casted a black model simply because I don't think it suits Dior's aesthetics. I would, however, always expect to see black men in Armani's shows, for example, because it suits his aesthetics.

Whether or not Dior's black boy in question is handsome or not is a matter of taste. Generally, I expect to see more 'pretty boy' types in Dior's shows, which I don't believe this guy lives up to, black or white. Anyway, it's a brave move on Slimane's part consumer-wise, and who knows, Dior might increase their sales this way.

This is the first time he's used a non-white model I think.

That's just so sad and so many levels...

Anyway, why do I think Thierry Mugler or something when looking at this.

it's the shoulders I think. And all that black.

i concur with Mullet. first time i'm really enthused by DH. those graphical jackets are superb. i'm happy to see him evolving away from the overrated style we all have come to know of him, whilst still maintaining that street sensibility.

Ooooooh I like zee Jacket's and I like how it has a fresh new feel from it not the typical... can't wait to see more

I want to know what was the music because all the Hedi Slimane's choices for his music are excellent !
