Crap.

I purchased a pair of black raw denims at Dior NYC about two months ago, and I've been wearing them a bunch. Loved them. Tonight the hook ripped right out of the denim. I bought them fairly snug, but still. I'm pretty bummed that I've wasted $240 and a few months of wearing for nothing. Yeah, I guess I could just wear a belt, but that's not the point. Now I'm thinking I should sell my other Dior denim just because. Ugh. Sorry, just though I'd share my pain.

That sucks. But...thats why you shouldn't but a pair of 240 USD jeans too snug. If your paying that much they should fit properly. They are Dior...not Demi-God.

Yes, this is true, but with the raw I wanted them snug as I was planning on wearing them excessively for long periods before washing. Regardless of what they cost or how they fit, I liked them and now they're useless to me. Dior + Me = bummed at the moment.

you can't sew it back on? not sure how bad it is. if it ripped off, it must have been pretty snug :(

glad you paid $240 for yours instead of some of the $400+ pairs, though!

The whole hook popped out. I wouldn't even know where to begin in terms of fixing them. Like you said, at least they weren't one of the more expensive pairs. But now when I wear those, I'll always think twice about using that top hook.

And they were only snug for a few days. I wouldn't have called them tight by any means. The culprit is the part that's in between the denim as it is quite sharp. Just rubbing and pulling got the best of them I suppose.

that sucks :( you know, I had a pair of Gucci pants before, and the same exact thing happened. I was wearing them (these were comfortable/loose) and on accident my pants got pulled, and the hook ripped off. it left that part of the pant looking very bad on the inside (couldn't notice anything outside) and I took them to a tailor and got it fixed for a very cheap price. :)

hope something could be done for you!

Arthur77 had the exact same thing happen to him, the hook fell off. He sent it to Dior Homme Paris and they fixed it for him. I suggest you do the same. It would be a shame for that to go to waste...I have thought about buying Dior jeans tighter in the waist so they dont get so loose in the waist that I have to wear them with a belt. But after hearing these stories I don't think I'm gonna do that on my next DH jean purchase.

I seriously wouldn't let that effect your decision. Maybe it's just some from the current season. I have a pair of beige VOTC cords that are "tight" at the waist, and they're fine after constant wear, though I am careful with them, as I am with all my other clothes. If I understand your waist dilemma (I'm pretty sure I do), buying a size down shouldn't automatically result in a broken hook.

It pretty much depends on the fabric itself, denim and corduroy will of course stretch a bit from the weave, whereas most canvasses won´t. I have had exactly the same problem with a broken waistband, with the fluo pink jeans from S/S 2005, I brought them to the tailor and he repaired them for me, it´s really not a big problem. I must admit though that the waist was very, very snug since I didn´t know they´d run so slim, although I strongly dislike the wider leg on the next size up. I will probably end up bringing most of my Dior Homme jeans to the tailor since I am not satisfied with the leg shape on the 19cm jeans, I´d want them as tight as the ripped and coated jeans from S/S 2004, I wonder if anybody in here did such kind of alteration before?

^ I had my tailor fix 3 pairs.. because i thought they had a incredibly bad fit.. 19cm is way to wide for me... I had him fix it so it would fit tapered from just below the knees and down..

I'm thinking about fixing my SS orange overdyes.
It's a 19 cm 29", and it fit perfectly when I got them, now they look ridiculously baggy, it's such a shame since I love the wash.
I want to make them atleast 2 cm thinner, do you think it can be done?
As they are quite expensive I'm scared that it will turn out like sh*t, but still I'd love to have them slim just like my black painted follow me jean.

By the way, did any of you ever get to see the coloured, metallic suits from Follow Me and Strip in person?
I've got an inside at Dior promising me to pick up a suit in either red or blue at their next family sale, and though they aren't that wearable I still think they are kind of cool, and I'll get them for a price I can't refuse.
Someone told me they never even hit the stores, is this true?

They are fantastic and very versatile to combine with several items, both dressed up and down. I could totally see myself in the electric blue suit from Follow Me as shown with a black shirt or tee or just the jacket with a pair of raw denims. I also like the short coat/ dress pants combo as shown in silver-ish pearl (so elegant...!), this fabric would look great juxtaposed with neutral greys and blacks or a pair of really light grey, bleached jeans. Finally, the copper/gold suit from Luster... which is more tricky than the others... I´d go with a colour palette as shown in Helmut Lang´s F/W 2004 menwear collection, again indigo raw denim jeans and a black top, probably a colour accent in rich blue.

The only one I´d have my difficulties with would be the metallic red suit... I personally didn´t like it as much as the other ones, but I generally have my difficulties to wear red...

I asked him to get me the blue suit, I originally wanted the silver one but they don't have it any more. I personally prefer the copper version from Luster over the Red suit from Strip, although I like that one too. However, he told me they only have the red suit which has a long jacket/coat, which I don't like very much at all.
It's gonna be very interesting so see what they look like in real life, I'd love to get the black leather sneakers from Strip to pair it with, but it seems like it's impossible to find those nowadays.
Jost, did you ever try one on? I've ordered the suit in size 44, since I usually have to go down a size in suits, but I don't want it to be too small (considering Follow Me might be a lot skinnier than what's being made today).

I don´t think the jackets run any smaller than the ones that are produced now... I´ve got a plain black cotton gabardine blazer from Follow Me and it fits just as slim as any recent tailored jacket. The only pieces that run smaller from Follow Me are the dress shirts... I have got the classic small collar shirt from this collection and it´s much smaller in the arms and waist. I used to have a 38 collar in dress shirts back then but now I go down to a 37, and they fit a bit roomier than then. Pity they changed the proportion, because the shirts from then basically fit as if tailor-made for me... Anyway, I know that the Avenue Montaigne boutique makes tailor made jackets and shirts in the Dior Homme shape, not the classic Monsieur cut.

I also had the chance to try on the electric blue silk suit during the summer of '03 in Harrods, a truly beautiful piece indeed.

I'm inclined to agree with Jost in regards to the sizing/fit, they're pretty much on par with the actual 2 piece suits/ensembles made in current seasons.

Cheers.

Jost, i believe that taking the legs in is a fairly simple/easy alteration which could be done well by any tailor. I have a friend who studies fashion design and is always altering the leg width of her jeans herself at home with a sewing machine and it always comes out looking great. :flower:

Although they aren't the ones with rivets, I've got a pair of the black leather hi-top wrestling shoes sz 40.5 that I'll be putting up on ebay tonight... serial # starts with 3H.

Maybe these would work? At least a stand-in until the riveted ones show up! They're crazy expensive on y!

...when exactly is sale time at Dior Homme NYC...and how much is the sale?. I know ive purchased sale items in January. I remember once jackets were 50% off...but does anyone have any more-detailed information.

...anyone?

No problem to have the jeans taken in by couple cm. I had a pair strip jeans made about that amount thinner in the waist and hip (maybe a bit of the upper thigh, I forget) and even the side scratch mark was left in tact.
