Awesome dyi i found for the MMM sandal-boot



1) Cut large cuffs off the top of old pair of black leather/vinyl boots. Mine are Guess and I got them at TJ Maxx a long time ago for about $50. When cutting, angle so back is longer than front.
2) Fit cuffs over a pair of black heeled sandals (looks great with wedges or flats too). The shorter part should go over the top of your foot, the longer part in the back almost folded under the heel.
3) Play with positioning of cuff by rolling/folding fabric forward as needed

i want to DIY a knockoff of tom binns cuff that has the lyrics to the smiths' "how soon is now" on it. (pic from netaporter - the bracelet costs about 400$)

there are a couple companies online that will do laser engraving on a custom level (i figure it will cost about 100$ for all those words to be engraved)

now the trick is tracking down a suitable silver (or other material) bracelet that is wide enough. im wary of buying on ebay as the jewelry may have lead in it or may be made out a different material than advertised.

does anyone have any advice for me?

I'd almost be MORE apt to buying from eBay then, say, a bazaar or places around my town. On eBay you can track down the sellers that have stellar feedback (if they do, they won't rip you off with lying about materials, etc). You can ask them all the questions about the product/material you care to. You'd probably get it cheaper & more resources available to you.

Just a little hint for cheap studs. I bought some studs on ebay a couple months ago very reasonably priced and I got antique brass gun metal silver for the color, so they weren't your basic. The only downside was, I bought them from the Philippines and they took 20 days to ship, but for the price you can't beat it. For random craft supplies, eBay is your place to go, you'd be amazed all the off beat things you can by at a very cheap price.
