Thanks for the idea! I should think of dresses more often.

89-19-08: I like it better without the cuffs too.

^ Sounds reasonable to me :flower:

Sometimes what I will do if I'm unsure of what I've planned to wear is I'll allow an extra 10-15 min to get ready in case I need to change ...

Keya, I like it...Maybe a belt could break up all the stripes and enhance the whole look?

Broad shoulder, broad back, small boobs- can I make a boyfriend blazer work?

If so, how? I already wear a lot of skirts and dresses, so my style has a feminine touch, but I choose edgy pieces, not flower-patterned "summer dresses". But, my figure is boyish- I'm heavily built, and not at my ideal weight either right now- just to make things worse.

Will I be able to wear this kind of blazer without looking butch? Do you have any styling tricks and tips? I'm usually very good at combining outfits, but I wonder if a boyfriend blacer is just not going to look good on my, no matter what I do.

The blazer I've been coveting is this one fra La Redoute:

How about wearing it with a skirt like in these pictures?
A dress underneath?

Letting your hair down in front
all dishevelled, so it covers your shoulders

hello ethereal...

i see no reason you couldn't wear that blazer exactly the way it is shown there...
that's not too butch!...

and if you aren't your ideal weight right now...
the oversized blazer can actually hide a lot...;)

just be sure that whatever one you get doesn't have REALLY structured shoulders so that you don't look like a football player...

but - other than that...
i would be really grateful for broad shoulders..
it's really a blessing...
take it from someone who has NO shoulders...
my shoulder bags don't even stay up!
...

happy shopping...

Ethereal, I think a boyfriend blazer would be very difficult to pull off with the body type you described. Even though the modern version has mostly softened the prominent shoulders and boxy tailoring since the last time this trend was big, the shoulders still feature prominently, and the tailoring still has a strong, imposing silhouette; both things that are doubly emphasized on your body type.

I am slightly t-shaped (shoulders broader than hips), imo not enough for it to be considered a flaw. But a boyfriend blazer makes me too t-shaped, plus it obscures and disrupts the fluid slopes of my natural outline. I wouldn't describe the effect as butch, rather, as a cut that renders my look too somber and, er, asexual.

I look at so many girls on the street and celebs/models looking amazing in bf-b's. But for a blazer to look good on me, it must have a more feminine style; perhaps a slight princess sleeve, daintier collar/lapels, curving in at the waist, etc. In short, not a boyfriend style.

You mentioned you don't like frilly stuff, so a 'feminine' blazer like the one I described might not be to your liking. So I highly recommend a kimono-inspired blazer for a similar effect to the bf-b. Because these have structure and sleekness, are not frilly or dainty, but they have a very flattering cut that would soften your body type. Imo, it's also just a really a beautiful style, much nicer than boyfriend blazers. Some examples, as there are both subtle and more direct takes on this design:
