Dolce and Gabbana's Python Theme

I think some of it works and some of it doesn't...the stuff in the store looks much better than a majority of the runway pieces.

Now, I'm not at all into trends, so I'm not the authority on this - but it seems like it's a nwe trend (Oh gee..that sounded reall stupid..). My mom just got the Petite Sophisticate catalog and it was full of python prints. I'm so glad she'd never wear that!

And on the side, the first outfit was what Alicia Keys (Poor child..I like her music but she just doesn't know how to dress) wore to sing My Boo with Usher (And their outfits did not match AT ALL! They looked like they could never belong together). She wore the whole outfit, just like on the runway, I was disgusted.

I hate hate hate the python theme. It has really cheapened the look of the clothing in my opinion...not matter what the price is. The first picture is the worst. The head to toe python just comes off as being so extravagent and silly.

Python is one of those materials that is just tacky flat out, I cant imagine any way snakeskin would be acceptable while keeping it's natural color variations. Now colored/dyed snakeskin is very nice.

I saw Michael by Michael Kors line, they have python print wrap dresses, wrap tops, button up tops, trenchcoats, keyhole dresses and skirts. I can't imagine this print working for anyone.

I didn't see it show up in any other shows so i don't know where they came up with the concept anyway- I don't care for it

probably i wouldn´t like to touch any of those pieces because it would be like touching the animal and i really dislike snakes... but i think it looks absolutelly amazing!!!, in terms of design they really explore the theme and create a lot of interesting variations with it, i loved the way they softened it up with brown lace, the mixture of gray and purple, skin and lace and the silhouettes in general, i think they are great designers and that it looks very coherent with there style and very right.

wow!..i couldn't disagree more....imo...the ONLY snakeskin that is elegant and tasteful is natural python or black ...all those coloured snakeskins are just weird and unnatural...very tacky imo...
ie- when tom ford did that blue faux snakeskin print dress at gucci...
:ninja:

i actually adore python and have a gorgeous vintage clutch and some very chic flat thong sandals (quite boho chic)...i think it can be very sexy and a little rock n roll...they just used way too much of it...maybe if you pull some of the pieces apart they could work....the accessories don't look too bad...

maybe some shoes...

but this was just overkill with this collection... ^_^

The first look is actually pretty wearable as is imo, the only thing I'd change is the bag. I'd do plain black leather, it's too matchy matchy with the skirt. Other then that it's a cute outfit.

And the jacket could easily be worn with a pair of basic jeans without lace cutouts, sans belts, hip purse and half of the bangles. Worn with some basic flats and a black undie tank I think it could be a really cute outfit.

I really agree with softgrey about the colors, the only time I like colored snakeskin is for accessories, and even then it depends. Devi Kroell does some beautifully colored python skin for example. But I will always be loyal to my fave, basic black.
