Dolce & Gabbana Mens F/W 07.08 Milan

Okay, I finally got to see the whole collection.

The Good: The gold baggy pants.

The Bad: Standard D&G styling, too much outerwear, too many metallic pieces, mixed message for proportions, ugly sunglasses, lumpy and baggy sweaters, bland color choices, obvious inspirations, the astronaut suits, the bronze suits.

And that pretty much covers it.

Agree.. With Everything.. Except For The Gold Baggy Pants.. Those Were Horrible Too.. Fun To Look At I Guess.. But Is It Going To Retail? NO.

Well it may retail among the tamarri......
I personally would wear them if I could find the proper way to tone them down.

I Just Dont Think Its Possible To Tone Down BAGGY GOLD PANTS.. LOL.. Maybe In Italy But In NYC, People Will Take Pictures OF You Walking Down The Street.. Well Not That, That Is A Bad Thing.. HMM>>

I smell a ripoff from two places, especially the shiny space jackets that I'm sure I've seen two seasons ago. Good, polished stuff nonetheless.
Yea I do as well. It totally reminds me of Romain Kremer'ss S/S 07 collection. But this is more wearble version, but it isnt fresh! :yuk:

I like the oversized items (mainly the gold pants)... But it is the same old DG... attractive in the same old way.

IMO, as with a majority of the collections from Dolce & Gabbana, you have to see between the lines and disect each look. I think that outfits like that space looking "thing" are meant to add to the effect of the show, but in the end there are tons of really wearable clothes.

Banana Republic and Abercrombie & Fitch, too, make "wearable" clothes. Dolce & Gabbana should try doing something a little bit more innovative. And soon. Their interesting clothes tend to be only for shock value.

You can't compare Dolce to Banana Republic...And as far as what you said about shock value, you proved my point in saying that those clothes are generally for show and to add the the effect. It keeps the show from being monotonous and just like every other men's show.

To even remotely associate this shi(f)t with the genius of Kubrick is a disgrace within a disaster wrapped in sacrilege. oy oy oy...

Its Not Only For The Show And For Effect, Its Also Usually What They Push The Sales Associates The Hardest At The Stores To Sell.. My Point Being.. Yes It Look Great As The "theme" During The Show.. But Will You Wear It.. And Will It Sell.. Designers Arent Here For People To Talk About There Work on Bulletins.. They Are Here To Make Money. Not For Your Amusement.

^ Do you really think any designer looking to make any money at all would actually market those more outrageous pieces (ie gold ski pants)? Those will most likely never see a rack outside of an editorial, and I'd say about 90% of this stuff is actually very, very wearable and saleable to the Dolce and Gabbana clientele. I fail to see why it's so hard to believe that people will actually wear this stuff, it's basically suits, sweaters, puffy coats, overcoats and leather jackets in metallic colors.....hardly shocking.

If you take a look at the SS 2007 Balenciaga Women's show, you will see what I am talking about. The leggings presented that had to be applied by hand prior to the show were there to add to the effect of the show...Yet, there were plenty of clothes that were wearable and will sell. So, yes, in the end, designers are here to make money, but to rule out putting on a good show is completely incorrect...(Just look at past collections from Galliano at Dior)
