Dolce & Gabbana Mens F/W 07.08 Milan

As For Designers.. I Dont Know.. Dolce&Gabbana, Yes. They WILL Put Gold Ski Pants On The Rack. And Expect Them To Sell... And It Doesnt. Those Big Baggy Gold Pants.. For Example Will Be At The Store Lets Say Here On Madison. The Sales Associates Know Its A Hard Sell.. Because WHO WANTS GOLD BAGGY PANTS? But They WILL Shove Them Down Your Mouth Until You Buy Them Cause They Way 7% Commission Off Of Them.. Not Because They Look Good.. And If They Dont Sell.. It Ends Up In The Sample Sale... Where It Belongs. With The Rest Of Dolce & Gabbanas "Visions"

If you take a look at the SS 2007 Balenciaga Women's show, you will see what I am talking about. The leggings presented that had to be applied by hand prior to the show were there to add to the effect of the show...Yet, there were plenty of clothes that were wearable and will sell. So, yes, in the end, designers are here to make money, but to rule out putting on a good show is completely incorrect...(Just look at past collections from Galliano at Dior)

I Agree With You With The Balenciaga Leggings.. But Are They For Sale? Or Where They Strickly For Show?

Ok...

Please, stop w/ the caps at the beginning of every word. It's driving me to epilepsy. You're right, everything that's on the runway goes straight to the store, they really have no concept of what does and doesnt sell.

Yea, they manufactured the Balenciaga leggings, I forgot how much they cost but I think it was in the 10k+ range.

Totally Understand That There Are Pieces That Are Just For The Show.. But What Im Saying, For Dolce & Gabbana, Most Pieces ARE Produced And Are Thrown Out There To Sell.. I Used To Do The Buy For A Few Of The Seasons.. And We Always Had Problems Because We HAD To Buy Them.. When We All New They Would NEVER Sell.

Were Having An Awesome Conversation.. And The Most You Come With Is Please Stop With The Caps. We Are Talking Fashion, Not How To Type.

^ It is rather annoying actually, makes it kind of difficult to read.

Perhaps D&G are more visionary than anyone thought, mass producing something that's clearly not going to sell.....I wonder if it will catch on.

Let's face it, D&G menswear is known for it's outrageous pieces isn't it, all of those pinstripe suits and ripped up studded jeans are just too much for the buying public. :innocent:

Yea They Are Known For The "Crazyyness" But What Pays The Rent.. Those Nasty Jeans And Poorly Made Suits That I Have Tons Of, And Rip After A Few Wears. Thank God They Were Free!

I guess your idea of outrageous is much different than mine because I rarely ever see anything very extreme from Dolce menswear shows. In fact, most people on the spot criticize them for being boring and predictable so unless they put the more tame pieces on the runway and save the leopard print jumpsuits for the showroom, I really can't see how they're known for their "crazy" mens fashion.

spaceman, oh spaceman
come rescue me
...

love the gold jacket though; it'd go well with my dior sneakers

Okay, I don't understand why you even work there if you yourself aren't convinced that the clothes are quality or even interesting. If I was hiring people to sell designer clothing (or anything for that matter), I would want that sales associate to really believe in the product that they are selling. You can honestly tell when a sales associate is just feeding you crap so that you buy stuff. Also, if you feel so strongly that the clothing is so poorly made, just stop working there so you can stop wearing their clothes. The fact that you work for a company that you are critisizing is really lame.

As for the collection, I actually like it a lot more than the last collection. I'll agree that it's not entirely innovative, but it's definantley different. It's hard to get extremely innovative with menswear (IMO), but I think they're at least putting some effort into finding their niche in the market.

yea it was $17,100 and it was a special order. Im not sure how they would actually make these though. For the show, they constructed it on an actual model. Perhaps they werent done with the collection? Some designers wait to the last minute to finish everything (e.g. the night before) Anyway, I do think these gold pants will sell; actually they're really cool. Unlike Balenciaga and many other designers who did the futuristic theme, this is more wearable and more attainable (and men now have a chance to have the space aged look). I dont see why they wouldnt sell. Granted, I doubt they fly off the racks immediately, but eventually I feel some fashion forward men will buy a few items. Really, to me this Dolce collection is not as bad as it usually is.

They're so completely heinous, I cant even talk about it. That's not fashion forward, that is desperate futurism. They're terrifying.

I love them! I do remind you Dolce toootally copied Romain Kremer on these pants. But his version was unwearable... :(
