Dolce & Gabbana's Couture Project

That fur number on Gina Lapina looks like something that would be on J.Lo.. circa 2006. (sweetface..).. the (hand painted?) ball-gown skirt looks pretty though with the bejeweled bodice. Nothing we haven't seen before I guess.

I'm laughing cause that they started out with the whole classy demure thing when this launched a few seasons ago, and now BAM the full D&G treatment in the [strike]boots[/strike] sandals with the furrr.

I actually prefer this honesty they're showing and coming to terms with the roots of the brand. Doesn't make this hot mess any better, but it feels more true to the brand as we know it.

OMG there are some hideous pieces and very in your face.

I like those hand-painted (?) ball gowns. Everything else is yawn. The fur pieces are obnoxious, but it's a welcomed throwback to the tacky D&G we all miss.

You know wat gets me the most? It's a beachside show. A beautiful one, but a beachside show. WITH GINORMOUS FUR CAPES AND SNOW BOOTS. I don't even... The billowy gowns are kinda nice, however.

^ well, it's a fall/ winter collection after all. And the rich russian will even wear fur to the beach...

Sure it's nothing new... but I prefer this way more than Raf Simon's Dior collections... at least there's excitement and drama in this collection.

My problem is that it's not very Fall Winter especially the beachy striped ball gowns

what a mess - wearing dead animals makes ugly - how sad

The billowy gowns are kinda nice, however.

At first I didn't like them, but the more I look at them, and in the beachy/nautical context of the setting, I actually think they're very pretty. It's almost out of sync with the rest of the collection, which as you say, has nothing to do with the beach

The location at La Fontellina on Capri facing the famed Faraglioni does not strike me as the ideal setting for couture collection

i find this actually much more true to the brand as it excites me a little be more than their usual recent love of Sicily. And the point of this project is to basically present a capsule one-of collection to their top clients who will basically list down what they want at the end of the shows, so all those boots did bother me. (I bet they are sell-outs) And the location is a breath of fresh air.

Very visual and fun. I mean it is really "celebrating Italian style" for sure. N' I guess it corresponds to the client's needs and whims

Like I've remarked before, the term 'project' explains everything. This is a high school project.
