Donna Karan S/S 08 NYC

In this season, when we've seen so many designers step up their game and go for the gold. Donna Karan is a let down. Her clothes are femenine, but just that. They're pretty; but just that. There's nothing more, nothing to decipher. Nothing to pick apart and revel over. Her clothes seem to fall flat and make no statement. Now, there were some gorgeous pieces; like a fitted jacket with no sleeves and oversized collar that hits just at the hips or an A-line new look skirt. But, those alone do not save this collection from mediocrity.

Feminine but matronly. The neutrals only drag it down further.
Maybe she shouldn't have shown like she suggested herself...

Besides, I can't see straight now after seeing Marc's show...I having retinal post-trauma.

^^I think thats the beauty of it.Its simple and stunning, not an innovative collection by no means, but still stunning.

Hahahah that will last for few more hours, after i see Marcs show yesterday everything else was beyond bland in comparison and to sane.

A little dull, some interesting shapes, I like the draping and the dresses are simple and pretty, lots of muted colours, quite bland. These clothes don't have much longevity imo...You get bored too easily...

My first impression was Wooow:woot:. My second impression I really really love this:heart:. Wonderful dresses. The colors, the cut, the materials: great. Her best collection for a long time.

you know what?

I am impressed!! :woot:
BEST collection of Donna i have seen in years.. it is incredible.
but yeah, NY fashion week is soooo boring. I am so over all these clothes and the attitude you can see in everyones faces

You broke my heart Donna, you broke my heart.

I had extremely high hopes considering how amazing fall was for her. Resort, while not exactly stellar, was still really fun and energetic.

This seems almost like Carolina Herrera territory. Tasteful beiges, circle skirts, crisp clean elegance.

Donna's shows are one of the few during he NY shows that I actually look forward to.

incredibly structured and dressy, surprisingly good

last summer collection was so much more relaxed and NYC...
i got the feeling that quite a few collections end up looking a bit of the same (CH, Oscar dLR...)

Quite impressed. Wonderfully feminine and elegant, and after some of the rubbish coming from the NY collections this season, both Donna and Calvin Klein have exceeded my expectations.

I love the neck wraps! The clothes are pretty and feminine---Donna Karan staples.

It's the best Donna Karan collection in ages imo.Very flattering and feminine shapes but not boring

couldnt agree more. she normally does really chic clothes for new yorkers but this is really like beige and plain and i honestly dont see any of her signatures in anything here.

This is a major dissapointment for me, she (well, the team that does it for her at least) had been on such a role. I wonder if something went sour in the studio...

it's very nice and all but not nearly as strong as her fall/winter collection.

this is disappointing - her last 4 collections were superb - this is just mediocre :(

My thoughts exactly.

Donna will always have a place in my heart. I love her ideology and dedication to the modern woman. In terms of creativity and innovation, she has been struggling for the last decade. It's so sad. Maybe women's central needs have changed? That seems absurd though, esp. in this day when women are determined to break the mold - while stylishly clad, too.

Nowadays, many designers seem to be designing for those very women Donna championed in the 80's. That may be the problem.. but is it rly a problem?

She set a tone and lost herself in the upsurge...

:(
